Hello again
This is not the usual kind of post, instead it’s a tale of IT woes, now sorted we think, although fingers and toes are crossed and I am holding my breath!
The thing is Mr F changed the ‘theme’ (note the darker typeface) and I posted my latest blog last Friday and ironically I began by telling you that the IT problems were over. A couple of hours after I posted I looked at the stats and thought that’s funny, there aren’t that many views. So I looked at my admin and OMG, I’d lost all my followers! There was precisely one follower, me!
I was utterly shocked but had to hold it together as Mr F was devastated as obviously it had been something he did whilst upgrading the site to its new look. I also felt really sad as when I write I hold all of you in my thoughts and to not know where you’d all gone was a miserable experience. Long story short, I got you all back two days ago after much work by Mr F. It’s complicated but amongst other things Jetpack, which keeps the list of followers safe and powers the emails to you was disconnected. So we thought we connected everything up and I sent out a Test post yesterday. And did an email get to you – no it didn’t! Another request went to the forum and we think we have sorted it!
Fingers crossed that when I publish this an email will arrive in your inbox.
Do either look back to last Friday’s post or click on this link to read my latest blog. And, phew, I really hope that’s the end of all that IT bother!
With love, Penny the Frugalfashionshopper

You may think we’ve all gone away but we were still here just patiently waiting
Awww – thank you so much Lyndsay 🙂
Good to have you back!

Ici France 🇫🇷
Bonjour Flora!
La France par ici, aussi! 😊
Very well done to Mr FFS (although I suspect he may have been empted to use those initials to mean something else, these past few days 🙂 )
Lovely to have you back, Penny! x
*tempted, even!
Hello there from the Netherlands!
Hi Claudia
It’s so nice to meet you!
Umm, yes! You can say that again Mr F was beside himself with angst and a few words might have escaped his lips!!!
Thanks Lorna!
I love the new dark typeface -so much easier to read!
Thank you x
Thank you Hilary and so pleased you like the darker typeface 🙂
Oh no!! We are still here and loving your blogs 🌸🌸
Great to see you back! Thanks for the darker typeface, my eyes appreciate it! Fingers crossed all will go well now x
Yes, we’re very glad to have changed the typeface. Fingers crossed indeed – we’re still a little on the edge about it all!
It’s my daily chant, Penny. “it’s Britain, nothing works” because nothing does.
Roads falling apart, no GP appointments, hospital waiting lists ( if you can even get onto one) years long, phones at any government office you try to contact go unanswered. (1 hour 45 minutes on hold, still didn’t get to speak to a human)
This is Britain, nothing works.
But your email arrived.
Yup that about sums it up! But thank you and I too am glad the email arrived 🙂
A very early good morning Penny from Australia.
Good morning to you Anna – so pleased that you’re reading it from Australia 🙂
It came through fine. Yes, I appreciate the darker print. As I type this on my iPAD my words are faint, like posts before.
Thanks for all the work to sort things out.
Warm greetings from Ecuador.
So glad you like the darker typeface Elaine and that the email got through – phew!
I received your email….. so sorry for your woes! IT woes are beyond daunting! xo karen
They certainly are – we’re still slightly on edge about it all. But fingers crossed! 🙂
Got your email/blog. Love the remodeled format. Thanks from the USA.
Hi Claire and so glad you like the new theme – it’s pretty much the same apart from the darker typeface. Thank you so much for reading the blog 🙂
Ah Penny, you can’t get rid of us that easily.
It’s a headache though isn’t it, IT. Good job you’ve got Mr F to help.
Ellie. 💋
Oh my word I couldn’t have done all that he’s done lately – it’s been lot of hard work on his part, bless him!
Thanks Ellie 🙂
Looks good to me & thanks to you & Mr FFS.
Anne
So glad you like it Anne 🙂
Thanks Penny, so pleased you and Mr F have sorted the IT issues. Trouble is it takes a lot of time when it goes wrong!! I appreciate your blog very much xx
Thank Vivien – it was mostly the hard work on Mr F’s part – I couldn’t have done this on my own. So I am forever grateful that he sorted it out.
And thanks so much for those kind words about the blog 🙂
Still here Penny. Always enjoy reading your news.
So glad to see this post from you earlier today Penny. I have also read your previous post and must say I like your London outfit. Especially the booties. They would surely tempt me. I have never thought of myself as an impulsive shopper except where it comes to shoes and boots. There have been times when I have no intention of purchasing a pair of shoes but see something in a window or store display that I have to have. And I have not had regrets. A couple of years ago I bought a pair of beige pumps, thinking that I needed such a basic in my wardrobe. And you know what maybe I wore them three times! not inexpensive either.
So now as you know the midterm elections in the US are over. It could have been so much worse . At least the really extreme Republican candidates were for the most part defeated. Of course there were disappointments but democracy held on.
Anyway, tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in America. Our family has opted out of cooking the traditional dinner and will head to a restaurant in Manhattan. I will be the first time in quite a while that we well all be together, and we won’t be together for Christmas as my son and his family will be visiting my daughter in laws family out of state. We do have much to be thankful for.
My current problem is that my favorite perfume, which I have worn for ages and is the only one which does not give me headaches is apparently being discontinued. It is White Linen by Estee Lauder. I have suspected that the ingredients have changed lately anyway, and also the head of the company donated large of money to a political candidate who I considered dangerous. So I was thinking of switching to something else, but what? Truly a first world problem. So that is is it for me.
Love, Darby
First of all, I trust you had really good Thanksgiving – how lovely that you are all together. It is interesting to me that America has two celebrations in the winter, Thanksgiving and Christmas and that you mostly have turkey on Thanksgiving. We Brits do the turkey on Christmas Day and this year our family is going to be together but we are not having turkey – too expensive for starters and it is a rather dry bird. We will have a roast though with all the trimmings!
I was pleased to see the results of the mid-terms but am a bit worried about Biden running again – what do you think of him doing so. I don’t think it is ageist of me to say that really the Democratic party should put forward a younger candidate – but who?
I know what you mean about perfume and cosmetics changing or just going out of production. It’s a shame about White Linen as it was one of their classic perfumes.
You take care and thank you for waiting for my blog to appear 🙂
I have to say I agree. I really admire Biden, I truly believes he is an honorable man but wishes he would step aside. but as you said, who. He can’t say is is not running now however as he would truly be a lame duck and be completely without power, nothing would get done. Darby
So glad to hear your pesky IT problems have been rectified and lovely to receive emails again. Thanks to Mr FFS and yourself. Cheers Doreen
Thanks Doreen – it was a lot of work on Mr F’s part, bless him, I am so appreciative of what he’s done and continues to do.
Cheers to you Doreen 🙂
Aargh!! I don’t know what I would do if that happened to me! I would probably throw up my hands in defeat and fade off into the sunset! I’m so glad you were able to “find us”! I love reading your blog and would surely miss you!

Well it was really entirely Mr F’s work that managed the change of the theme which was necessary as it was out of date and causing the blog to crash all the time. So it had to be done, but then there was the horror of losing you all and then I got you all back and then the email failed to get out. Grrrr! But we think it’s sorted and I am so grateful to my other half for all the work he put in.
Thank you so much for those kind words Marsha – I so appreciate all of you!
HappyThanksgiving 🙂
