Hi everyone
I do hope you all survived that heat on Tuesday. For those of you outside the UK it was a horrendous day with temperatures in some parts up to 43C(109F). Here in Lewes, just north of Brighton, it was slightly better than that as we had temperatures in the mid 30s(90+F) but having stuck my hand out through the window several times to test the temperature I can tell you it felt like a hot oven and this time the heat was much dryer than it usually is. Elsewhere there were some awful grass fires that went on to destroy housing which, and correct me if I’m wrong, was the first time it’s happened here. Consequently, I do feel as a nation we have all totally woken up to climate change and yet, and yet, I don’t think our politicians have, particularly within this current government, which is like a car rolling down a hill without its brakes on. But enough of that or I’ll just talk about politics the entire time!
Instead, phew, how did we as a nation cope with that heat? With difficulty I’d say as we’re just not used to those temperatures. As for us, we stayed in all day behind closed curtains and windows, we dressed in very loose clothing and as usual I scraped my hair back into some kind of a bun. Even so that amount of hair balancing precariously on top of my head was hot. It’s time, I thought, to get it cut!
But before you say, oh no, the thing is I have had many different hairstyles over the years and if I have any advice (which I don’t because I think it’s not on to give anyone anything like a rules or stipulations about what to wear or how to look) but I do say don’t be afeared of trying out new styles – just go for it and see what happens, you may surprise yourself!
So I decided I would get my hair cut because just recently it was getting quite long.

But that’s nowhere near as long as it got in the lockdown years. See below for the length it got!

Exactly a year ago this below was the first cut it had in many months.

It looks nice doesn’t it. But the curls given to me by my hairdresser didn’t last beyond a day. I’d have to get those hot tongs out every day to get that look and tbh that’s too much work and not good for the hair either. So, because it is heavy and thick, it tends to just hang there.
But I have had it quite short. This was taken 10 years ago on our first cruise – sigh – I see that as the age of innocence when we could mix and congregate without any fear of Covid. Happy days!

I started looking through my photo library and found this. And where did that dress go? Gone into the charity shop bag and I don’t know why, not that I could get into it now as I was quite a bit slimmer in those days!

And you’ve seen this before. The two pix above show my dyed hair and this was my real colour although I think the flash made it a little redder than it really was.

Why don’t I start at the beginning!

There’s a chubby-faced little girl with ringlets made by my mother who put me in curlers even at that early age! And here’s a school photo.

That hairstyle continued throughout my schooldays. And here I am below with my beloved sister who sadly died some years ago.

We never went abroad and always spent our 2-week holiday on a beach somewhere in England often in the rain!
What about this for a rather stiff portrait of a teenager trying her best to look cool – not!

OMG – anyone else have hairstyles like that?
Here’s my wedding hairstyle – up for once.

Love the blue eyeshadow! And what about this!

The eye shadow and yes, that’s a mullet! That was after I’d had it long for many years! It’s such an astonishing hair cut here it is again!

And short again!

As you can see I’ve had short hair many times before and it’ll grow again. So this is a selfie taken by me on Friday.

And at home – apologies for the unmade bed!

You’ll see more elegant pix with me wearing dresses another time – this is my Pilates outfit during the summer!
That’s all for now, but do tell me if you’ve had many hairstyles or just stuck to the one style.
With love, Penny, the Frugalfashionshopper

Wow, Penny. What an array of photos of yourself you have kept…such wonderful expressions of the inner you- not just hairstyles. Your long hair looks thick and gorgeous and be assured this new “bob” really shows that and the style frames and enhances your lively face and features, so a great decision. Enjoy!
Thanks so much Jill. Yes, the photos on the blog are very much due to Mr F who is a techie nerd (he won’t mind me saying this) so all our photos plus al the photos I inherited from my parents are digitalised so it was easy to access them. I am enjoying my new hair cut – thanks again 😊
Mullets are coming back into fashion, well with men. Yuck yuck. They were bad enough first time round. I like the short one before the recent one but the current style looks really good too. I always go to the hairdressers with ideas but whatever they do I hate it until just before the next cut then for a week or so I think it looks the best it ever has 😆
Mullets were every fashionable in their time but now, no thanks!
Yes going to the hairdressers is always a bit of a gamble especially when you’re trying to find a new one. I had two attempts in Lewes and each time the hair wasn’t as I wanted it, then, phew just through sheer chance I found the one who cut my hair on Friday – I shall be staying with her!
I am the same age as you and can produce photos of myself with all the same hairstyles. One exception – I don’t think I was brave enough for the mullet! We used to perch our school hats on those short, layered, bouffant styles, after lining up at the one school mirror to ferociously backcomb our hair. I now have exactly the same style as you all these years later.
Ah yes, backcombing and bouffant hair styles – I remember them well! Thanks Helen.
Lovely photo of you with your sister and the tan lines where your ankle socks finished I remember them so well. Perms and mullets and I never used conditioner for years not to mention washing my hair everyday, even when it was almost at my waist. It’s a wonder I am not bald. When I was in my 40’s I used henna I had the shiniest hair, did you ever try that. I like your new hair length very much.
Those fires so frightening and a lifetime’s memories gone. It’s always just round 30 here and doesn’t cool down much at night. Strangely we’ve been sleeping for 8 hours, with the window open.
Do you know I never noticed the tan lines, but you prompted me to look and there they are! Yes, just like you I often permed my hair and I think shampoos were much harsher than they are now. Do you remember the ones for dandruff? I’m sure they caused the dandruff!
I never used henna but I’ve got a friend who’s the same age as me who uses henna and consequently has scarlet locks – she looks stunning.
I’m sure the fires that destroyed housing were because we are so unused to those temperatures. Also there have been so many cuts due to the Tory austerity policies that fire stations have closed and there are insufficient now to cope with climate change and days like Tuesday – will the government do anything about that? No they won’t as both candidates want to cut taxes – Liz Truss immediately and Rishi eventually. Neither of them are saying anything about building up our infrastructure nor are they saying a dicky bird about climate change – we are essentially f…… End of rant of the morning!
Meanwhile it must be lovely where you are – enjoy!
Oh, my! The shorter do looks wonderful on you! I’ve have the same cut this summer as we live in South East USA and it has been soooo hot this year! Yes, hotter than past years. I know you will enjoy you new “do”!
Thanks so much Lynn, I am enjoying it! And having cut it this much I might just get it a little shorter! Wow!
Hope you’re OK in the South East USA – we’re hearing about your heatwave. You take care.
Penny, I love seeing your posts – always fun and interesting, but I do find the grey type makes it quite difficult to read -eyes not getting any younger!
Penny I love your Grace Kelly chic hair style! I don’t know if you color your hair, if not how fortunate you are to have such a natural shade. The summer heat has felt like an oven and it is scary how everywhere the heat is extreme. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and thanks for keeping us posted.
Hi Sharon and thank you and no I don’t colour my hair now, it’s 100% natural. And sideways on you can see lots of different streaks of colours as I’m not totally white. I’ve en got some remnants of red hairs! Honestly when I grew it out, I really wondered why I’d spent over twenty years colouring my hair as it really looked better un-dyed!
Thank you again and yes, I agree this heat is not pleasant and the extremes are frightening – just wish our politicians would turn their attention on it!
Hi Sue, thank you and I’ve asked Mr F, who is my IT manager, to look into making the type darker. Watch this space 😊
Your haircut looks wonderful Penny. This length is very flattering.
so interesting to see the different hairstyles over the years. I do like the short cut but since you are in profile hard to assess the overall look. I have had so many lengths and styles over the years, including a variation of the mullet and more than once I just opted for a very short pixie. Currently my hair is a bob but thinking I may go even shorter on my next cut.
I do hope the worst of the heatwave is over for you. It has continued to be quite hot here in New York but nothing like Europe. Today is is supposed to get cooler. And not nearly enough rain. So much of the planet in weather extremes. Good for you for wearing shorts. I have two old pairs which I pack each year for vacation, and almost never wear any other time. This year they were unpacked as both my daughter and her husband got covid just before we were about to leave. here is hoping that they get well quickly and do not have some of the lasting effects which some get. Today I will get tested myself, I am fortunately feeling fine but have been isolating .
I turned on my local public TV station the other night and happened to see a program with British historian Lucy Worsley. And there was the parade in Lewes. it’s quite an event, isn’t it. Love, Darby
Hi Darby, and hairstyles I think we’ve had a few, and you’ve even had a mullet! They were very fashionable at the time! Do you know, now I’ve got it cut, I think I might even go just a little shorter.
The extremes around the world are frightening and if I was younger I’d be participating in all sorts of campaigns – actually I think I’d be joining our most radical group Extinction Rebellion – and I might still do that if we continue like this. Something has to be done. All the politicians ever seem to do is reluctantly sign ‘agreements’ that appear to do nothing at all to prevent what is happening now. We’re reading about the heatwave in the US – hope you’re Ok. Ours is over but the forecasters are saying this will be repeated so yes, it’s frightening.
Oh no, what’s happened to your vacation in your favourite spot, is that cancelled now. There are so many cases but of course no mitigation as apparently we have to live with it. Recently we were in contact with our daughter who subsequently tested positive. It’s day 12 and we are still symptom free and have tested negative – phew!
Lucy Worsley is a tour de force as far as tv programmes go, we’ve watched so many but not the one with the Lewes parade – must look into that.
Thanks Darby – you take care
Love your new hairstyle. Really suits you and it’s beautifully cut.
The mullet though ……..,,,,,, it seemed a good idea at the time?
Thank you so much Pauline and as for mullets, of course they were fashionable in their time, but now occasionally I see one and go noooo!
Now I’ve done the deed I might even go shorter, especially if we have another spot of very hot weather.
Hi Penny ,Your latest haircut is SUPER, very chic and stylish. I love the old photos and had exactly the same bouffant style when I was a teenager, we all looked about 45 didn’t we? Thank goodness it’s cooled down a bit now,I think none of us enjoy that terrific heat. I just hope that world governments are at last taking notice of the climate situation and will get their act together to sort it out. But sadly I doubt it, not in our lifetime anyway. Best wishes from Judy in Brighton
Thank you so much Judy and wow you had a stiff bouffant hair style too! Weren’t they awful and I distinctly remember being rather disappointed with the photo but that was the one chosen by my mother to be my ‘portrait’ – eek!
Yes, thank goodness it’s cooled down but I don’t think our current government is the least bit interested in climate change, at the moment it’s all about, ‘gimme your vote’. And all they do internationally is reluctantly sign ‘agreements’ that say something will happen in 2050. Oh really? By 2050 I dread to think what the world will be like – my poor grandchildren. If I was younger I’d be joining Extinction Rebellion!
In the meantime I might even get my hair a little shorter! Thanks and very best wishes to you too 😊
Your hair really suits you with a bob and easier to manage I should think. I had my bobbed hair cut short in April and immediately regretted it so have been growing it out since. However on the plus side it’s saved me quite a chunk of cash as I was paying £55 for a cut and blow dry!
Thanks Gill and yes, agree, when it’s long there’s no need for the hairdresser but now I think it’s going to be much more expensive! Never mind as I was glad to get rid of the length during this hot weather (bit grey and dull at the moment). I will grow it long again I’m sure! Thanks again
That shot of you at a very young age is so adorable, but cant’t imagine a head full of rollers at that age. Your new cut is very attractive, but then again I like most of them except the mullet. What were we thinking back then. I can’t count all the cuts I have had over the years from a tiny pixie to below shoulders. When I look back I see some unfortunate colour choices as well. Now that I have gone grey with white front the texture has changed so I am still playing with styles. A friend is trying to convince me to go back to the pixie but with the looser skin on neck and jowls starting to show, I think not. Right now it is bangs or no bangs since that area is thinning noticably, such fun. As Darby mentioned, the look can be quite different from the side as to what we see straight on in the mirror, another thing to consider as I ponder.
Stay well. Oh, p.s. we just booked a cruise for next May, and fingers crossed that it will work out. Do you have any long term plans in that department?
Thank you Diane, if I remember rightly the curlers were softer and had a grip like an ordinary hair grip, so the hair was rolled over quite soft surface. For the ghastly teenager style I remember I used to sleep with my head covered in hard prickly rollers!!! What where we thinking, indeed! My Other Half says since we’ve been together I’ve had more styles than hot dinners!
Good luck with your choice of hairstyle, it’s tricky, I now think I could have it shorter.
As for cruises, not until Covid is a mere chance of getting it, like flu or a cold, for me it’s still a bit dicy. In a couple of years I might go on a Hurtigruten cruise up the entire Norwegian coast and back again. It’s not like a straightforward cruise though as they still act as ferries. Rather like the idea as it could be quite an experience. So that’s the plan. In the meantime we aim to get to Oslo next year independently. Oslo is never on a cruise itinerary but I have a family connection there. Next May things might have improved re: Covid, so that’s something to look forward to.
Thanks again and you stay well too
Love all of your doe’s and I actually like the mullet too!!! Very David Bowie and very in at the time!!! Your new cut looks nice and the color is gorgeous. This has been a horrendous summer – I’m in Vegas – we’re used to heat but nothing like the past 5 weeks – day after day of above 110 temps and for about 20 hours of the day…we are roasting here in the American Southwest!!! At any rate – I especially love your wedding hair and, of course, your amazing red curls!!! So try to stay cool and thanks for a wonderful post!!!
Oh wow, you’re the first person here to say that they liked the mullet! It was very much of it’s time and popular too. Thank you re: the cut – think I might even go shorter!
We’ve been reading about the heatwave in the US and the terrible fires. It does seem that it’s worldwide problem as there are fires in Europe too. You stay safe and as cool as possible and thanks for those kind words.
Love your hair Penny.
I’ve had the same style (similar to yours) for many years. Except now it’s going grey. I can still tie it back when it’s really hot which is really helpful.
All the best Penny xx
Hi Vivien and thank you – I might go even shorter as now I’ve washed it, as ever, it looks different to the look the hair dresser gave me and still there’s quite a lot of hair so yes, it could go shorter!
All the best to you too Vivien 😊
Luv, luv, luv the straight, chin length style you’re rocking in the picture with the coral dress!! So flattering and stylish. Do you just not like to use product and fool with it now?
Thank you and that coral dress photo has me with great short hair – so I might go shorter! Thet hing with my red hair is that when I was 50 it began to dull and greyer hairs appeared so I coloured it for over 20 years and was very against stopping. However, about 3 years ago I realised that my coloured hair blended well with the white so I stopped using any colouring products. It took 2 years to grow it all out, and I was so surprised to see that my natural colour was actually nicer than the flat colour of the blonde/yellow dye. The natural colour is also a good colour for my age so it’s a win-win.
Really like the new length . It seems to give your hair more body . My sister says “ what’s the difference between a bad haircut & a good haircut ? – about three weeks “ I never like mine when it is first cut . I like your Shirley Temple look too .
Thanks Wendy – actually now I’ve washed it myself it looks different with quite a lot of hair still so I might go shorter!
Love your new length Penny! As I scrolled through your photos, I thought the one of you with the red/orange (?) dress was the loveliest……and now you have it again. It must feel lighter too as your hair looks lovely and thick. I have never had long hair as every time I think I might let it get longer, it gets to a point where I hate it, so I go short again.
Oh it is so much lighter on the head without all that length! But now I’ve washed my hair myself, it has puffed up and I’ve still got a lot of hair, so I might go even shorter and more like the look in the red (?coral) dress photo. I can see that short hair is absolutely you!
Thanks Janice
This was such a fun read (other than the heat related info…I do hope this opens lots of eyes around the planet)! I loved seeing you in all of the different styles. Your mullet made me think of David Bowie…Ziggy Stardust days perhaps? I did not realize how long your hair had gotten through the early years of covid (gah…I hate that we now talk in those terms)! And, your new haircut…wowza! You are stunning with this soft look! You honestly can wear you hair any way you wish…lucky you! Thanks for sharing all of these photos with us!
https://marshainthemiddle.com/
Hi Marsha and thank you! I’ve washed it myself now and as usual it looks a bit different – doesn’t that always happen! So I might go shorter and more like that photo of me in the coral dress.
I remember getting that mullet hairstyle and not everyone liked it as I’d gone from very long flowing locks to that stiff standing on end at the top of the head look! But I liked it and felt very daring!
Thanks again and have a great rest of the week 😊
Hi Penny,
How strange to think of the U.K. and many other parts of the world are sweltering while I am in the Amazon area, the eastern side of the Andes Mountains, where it is thought of as always tropical. Actually, I am feeling quite chilly on this rainy day.
Thanks for the hair-style parade. That was fun. My favorite look for you is the style you had in the coral-red dress picture. (Several commenters said the same.) That length is the most flattering — just above your shoulders. I think it would be accurately described as mid-length, certainly, not as short. If I may offer an opinion, hair length and volume both are worth considering along with bone structure. Your pleasant and usually smiling face is flattered by creating a horizontal line, which a shorter length provides. Glasses also do.
You are blessed with good hair. Enjoy every strand, as I do with my own.
In the States, for years, I had short hair, permed, because the chemicals gave me some control. About a year before I move to Ecuador, I let it grow out to my shoulders.
One day, I parked my car in front of a small hair salon in an exclusive high-end part of Seattle. I had an errand to do. Through the window, I noticed there was only one chair for customers. (there had to be a sink and hair washing section out of sight.) The single hair expert/owner was just finishing with a patron. He walked her out to her car, which was next to mine. I surmised she needed physical assistance but no. I overheard her say how much she appreciated his kindness, so I realized that summed up his reason. As he shut her door and waved her on, he smiled at me as he turned around.
A couple of minutes later, on an impulse, I jumped out of my car, and opened the salon door. I smiled and asked, “Bangs or no bangs.” A second later, he said, “Absolutely, no bangs,” as he stopped to look from afar. “He thought a moment and said, “If you have time, please come in and let me show you something.”
I sat down, he released my hair from the band, picked up a clean comb and went to work. He was quiet as he assessed my hair and bone structure. Clearly, a master at work. (Don’t we sense assurance when a skilled person touches our hair?) Then, he spoke. “Not one woman in 50 can wear her hair as you can. It shouldn’t work, but it does. Straight back shows off your face, how you carry yourself, your salt and pepper streaks, and its healthy thickness and texture. So keep using whatever you already are. Have it trimmed every two months.
You have a signature style so make the most of it and enjoy having your good hair. I am so glad you came to the door.” Then he walked me to my car.
He did that for the sheer joy of it with no other motive. A precious lesson for me also to generously share when I can, and to graciously accept an unexpected gift like that.
Happy hair, Sweetheart.
Oh wow, Elaine you have such a gift of story telling – love the whole description of your hair cut from a master. And how wonderful he must have made you feel. Thank you for the read – I really enjoyed it.
Meanwhile I’ve washed my hair myself and as ever it looks a bit different to the style given to me by the new hairdresser. There’s still a lot of hair and I might go shorter. I’ll show her this blog post and point to the photo with the coral dress. Because, yes, making it a bit shorter so the horizontal edge is on the edge of my face will be so much better than the droopy lankiness of the style I had for some time. I am pleased to have found her though as we both agreed she wasn’t as hesitant as the last hairdresser (in the same place) who has left. It was serendipity that I found her and for that I am so grateful.
It’s a bit cooler today but we are forecast to have a drought as the dark clouds hiding the sun never seem to produce any rain. Hey ho, I expect in a few months time it’ll do nothing but rain!
Thanks so much for your wonderful contribution Elaine, you take care
Oh, I loved seeing all of these photos Penny. And you’ve given me a wonderful idea for our upcoming Where bloggers Live post. I’ll be sure to give you credit!!
OXOX
Jodie

Thank you Jodie and that’s so great that this hair blog has inspired you!! You take care xxx
That length is perfect on you Penny! As it happens I’m having my hair cut today and planning to lose some length (not that I have that much!). Loved seeing your pics through the years. I had a mullet too! But they were very trendy at the time x
Well actually now I’ve washed it myself I think I could go shorter as it’s puffed up and there’s still a lot of hair. Want to get it more like the one with the coral dress which btw, I don’t remember having at all!!!!!
Hope your cut went well and I remember that I loved my mullet but not everyone else did 🤣
I really like the shorter length Penny and it certainly must be much cooler for you.
An interesting look back at your hairstyles over the years and have shared a few of them too. The early photo was adorable .
Enjoy your new style. xx
Thank you so much Jill. It was important to change the style, I think as, you were right, it does suit me better shorter. And you know what now I’ve washed it myself I want it even shorter!
Thanks again xx
Very much enjoyed seeing your haircuts over the years Penny. I like you new look but think you could go a bit shorter next time. Like others I like how it is in the pic with the orange dress. My girls had long slightly curly hair and my Mum started them with those foam rollers to make ringlets. Very pretty but would I do that now, probably not. One of them suddenly went very curly at about 10, as did my son although later. My hair is what I call ‘kinky’ especially when it’s damp. I’ve found we nearly always want the hair we haven’t got! HI is also techy and all our photos are on the computer now so I can easily look back to the many ‘looks ‘ I’ve had. Oh dear, what ever was thinking when I had a curly perm ? I’ve kept my hair short most of my life but after it grew in the pandemic I was reluctant to let the growth go but it was a mistake. I need to have longer hair at the sides now because of the scar but now have the back cut in short at the neck which looks much better. I have a hairdresser dilemma. When my regular girl (B) was away her substitute cut my hair better but I’m too embarrassed to change. I had a strange moment when I went to the salon last time in that I didn’t recognise B. I later realised this was because I had never seen her without a mask. Quite unnerving at the time!
Thank you Lynda and yes, I agree it could go shorter. I’ve washed it and as ever it’s a bit different now with more hair and what seems a longer length. I will absolutely try for the style that I wore wearing the coral dress. Anyway this was the first cut which was quite a thing to do and a psychological barrier to get through. Now I’ve done it, I can see how much better it is. Feels lighter and more fun.
Ah yes, quite a dilemma re: your choice of hairdressers. I was so fortunate that the hairdresser I used twice had left and the new one was just serendipity – very pleased to have found her.
I was lucky with my kids as both inherited my husband’s curly hair. Not that my son was all that happy with his hair as from a baby to I’d say about 8-yr-old he had very soft blonde-red hair. All of a sudden it seemed to change to being much thicker and worse (for him) a true ginger colour. Gingers are now OK (?due to Ed Sheeran) but in those days he was teased a lot about his hair. It’s dulled a little now.
I know what you mean about not recognising people because of their masks last year an Estate Agent came round to value our last flat heavily masked. I took some papers round to the office and called out his name – could not recognise the man that walked up to me!
Hi Penny! What a community you have gathered here! Such an interesting, international representation!
This post was so fun. I have now read and enjoyed the photos three times! My favorite is the side profile with the blue sweater. I love the loose waves and, my goodness, you remind me of Emma Thompson, from the side! I hope that’s a compliment! I love the orange dress one, too. The mullet reminds me of a style I had with one side very, very short and the other side much longer ala Diana Ross! Ahh, yes, I had the very big hair, too! In fact, I was sent to the principal’s office in high school as a teacher thought my hair was inappropriate! And, the perms! From the home kits (Toni brand) in the 1950’s to the very expensive salon visits in the 1980’s, my mother or I subjected myself to those, too! We are blessed to have healthy hair and lots of it!! In the last 10+ years, I have been sporting a short pixie style with my natural salt n pepper hair. I keep it a bit spiky and undone-looking with product and a good cut. I have found a great one-woman shop in my new location. She works in a remodeled guest house in back of a home in an older section of town. Set in a lovely backyard with water features and a well-kept garden, it’s an oasis. I look forward to each visit.
I have thought of you often as I watch both of our political scenarios unfold. I visited your Other Blog to see your thoughts and look forward to them. Meanwhile, the Special Committee investigation into the January 6 Insurrection (let’s call it what it is) has been riveting TV watching! So smart and stunning in its revelations!
Though this post was a delightful, fun one, the mention of climate and politicians brings up sobering thoughts…and engaging comments from your community. Take care, Penny! Your photos are all wonderful! Thanks for sharing! Stay comfortable and safe…Charlene
I know, I really love replying to the comments on the blog because you’re all such lovely women and it is so good that this includes people from all over the world. The day this blog was posted it was read in 35 different countries – amazing!
I am so glad you liked the different photographs, and how interesting the you like the one in profile with the blue sweater. I see there that I have my natural colour – sigh – mostly gone now, but I do have a few red hairs that help make the streaks, which are natural too! Yes, we are both lucky to have thick healthy hair and I thank my mother for her Scottish red hair genes. Not that my son liked inheriting my mother’s gene because after his baby hair had gone he had a very strong ginger colour and in those days ginger wasn’t cool and he was teased a lot about it. It’s dulled now and he’s quite happy with his hair.
It’s great that you have a good hairdresser, I was searching for one and I think I’ve found her! We both have challenging political situations going on. Consequently I think it is so good to be communicating with each other, as we do here. Communication from politicians and between politicians is all about shouting – that’s why I so appreciate and cherish the people who comment on this blog. Thanks Charlene – you stay safe too 🙂
Wow! Your new haircut looks fabulous!
I loved seeing you with all your various hairstyles.
I had long hair for donkeys years with the occasional impulse for short hair. Even had a Brian May style perm back in the 80’s, a disaster!
For the past few years I have stuck with a longer bobstyle. My daughter says it is ‘boring’ but I like it. Not ready for grey get so still having it coloured every six weeks. Maybe next year I will go grey. My hair is more grey than brown nowadays. When I was younger I always used natural red henna, my hair was in its best condition back then.
Thanks so much Carole, but I might go even shorter as I’ve washed it now and it seems longer. It was the first cut which was quite a thing to do, now I’ve done it, I’ll do it again! Ah the Brian May perm, yes, that’s what I had a fair number of times.
Longer bobs are great and if it suits you that’s the style for you. Equally I took a very long time to decide to go au naturel. Only you will know when it’s right and only then you should do it. But until then colouring for you sounds great.
Ah yes, and red henna – never used it but I have a friend same age as me who heavily hennas her hair – it’s stunning!
I’m going to avoid climate change and politics for now because I think you and I are already on the same page about that. What a fun post seeing all of your varied hairstyles. Ha! I would never have anticipated you in a mullet. But you look great in any hair style. I love your new cut.
Oh and that black and white gingham dress? Love it!
Michelle
https://mybijoulifeonline.com
We are on the same page, Michelle, and its so nice to know that! And that mullet, I loved it but not everyone else did especially My Other Half as I’d had long hair for ages. He got used to it and of course I eventually grew it out.
That black and white gingham dress is worn over and over again. And I nearly didn’t buy it – phew!
Thanks Michelle.
I applaud your new shorter cut! Your eyes pop out of it and you look trés youthful. Plus, it emphasizes the healthy shine and volume of your hair. That was a very good call.
It’s super hot here in Vancouver too — we’re drinking water (and a few yummy wine coolers) and watching the pope visit the indigenous nations regarding the residential schools.
Our world needs a lot of tidying up.

Thank you so much re: your kind words about the hair – might cut it a bit shorter!
It’s cooler today or actually it was cooler this morning, it’s quite warm and humid now. But no rain which I’d like for the garden.
Ah yes we’ve read about the Pope’s visit. Hope it helps to heal. Your last sentence – so true

Apart from the mullet, I love all of your hairstyles: it looks really pretty long but I also really like it in a bob! I am about to call my friend to schedule a cut and color toward the end of next month: in time before my birthday in September.

Funnily enough I really loved the mullet and thought it quite daring! I grew it out soon enough though.
I might go even shorter Mireille!
Some fun styles Penny!
I’ve have the same for a number of years, and have found that it suits me!
Thanks for adding to my link up party. Hope you have a super week. x Jacqui
