De-cluttering – am I any good at it? Are you?

As most of you know I’m down-sizing big-time to a flat (or apartment, as they say over the pond).  It will have 2-bedrooms, a living area and a small kitchen and bathroom. And no garden. I’m ready for this.  I

Blazers are back – who knew!

I don’t know if you remember my jackets and jeans post last year but if you look here, you can see I tend to wear short, not-quite-cropped jackets, that, to be honest, often leave me feeling a bit chilly (because

Hello everyone, and a warm welcome to all, and especially those of you who dropped by and signed up after a mention on Tricia Cusden’s recent blog post on street style and her new hat.  Yes, I do love hats

    It’s almost party time again!

Down south where I live in the UK, today’s a proper frosty winter day with cold weather forecast for the rest of the week.  So I should be talking about keeping warm and wearing winter woollies.  Instead, I’m writing about

Hello everyone! Last Saturday we showed Brooklyn – what a lovely, nostalgic almost elegiac film.  Mark Kermode called it a fairytale of New York and you couldn’t have had a more exquisite actor in Saoirse Ronan who is the sweet

Hi everyone Another busy week doing this and that meant I hadn’t had much time to do another blog.   But, not to worry I said to myself.  I know that the next post is going to be about Autumn/Fall clothes.

I went up to London to see the Queen!

Well not exactly, I went up to London to see the exhibition, Fashioning a Reign: 90 years of style from the Queen’s wardrobe. The exhibition ticket gave you access to the Buckingham Palace State Rooms and while I consider these

More hot weather clothes for our lovely summer

Hi everyone Despite Autumn clothes creeping into the shops we’re still having a great summer here in the UK.  There’s hardly any rain and the temperatures are a pretty standard 22-24C (71-75F) and the humidity is OK.  And I’ve been

We’ve had one very hot day here in the UK!

I promised I wouldn’t complain about the hot weather after our awful grey and damp winter.  And I’m not.  But Tuesday was the hottest day of the year topping 32C (89F) and I felt not far from heat stroke when

    About Me

My name is Penny, I am 78 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
