Jackets Part II and another necklace

Hello again Weather-wise we’re now fully into cold starts in the morning (for the UK) and a lot of rain, perhaps more than usual. Fortunately, even our leader (the one that I am not fully in tune with!) has said

A new hat and a facial, and gosh the choice you have now! Plus out and about in Brighton

Hello everyone First things first I bought a new hat! Rather pleased with it.  I saw it in  charity shop on our Sunday walk and yes, you’ve guessed, I pounced! It cost all of £4! We were out and about

Hello everyone I’m still rearranging things in the new flat including my makeup drawers, which are now my costume jewellery drawers. I am, btw, going to re-start the makeup videos, not immediately, but at some point. There’s a whole load

A necklace, a new jacket (or is it a coat) and some books I’ve been reading

Hello everyone Thanks so much for your comments on Peaky Blinders. You convinced me!  I’ve started watching it and I don’t know why I avoided this series all these years as I really like it. I wore the spider brooch

Hello everyone Just look what I found in a nearby shop yesterday – a spider brooch which I shall wear and wear, I promise. I’ve just bought it so no pix of me wearing it yet but here it is

Media images of ageing – are they too clichéd and restricted?

Early last week I wrote a piece elsewhere, which was mainly in praise of Lady Hale, the wonder woman heading up our Supreme Court.  And she really is a wonder woman as the court’s judgement on the legality of our

The cooler weather means I get out my warmer clothes – hooray! Part 1 – skirts

The cooler weather means I get out my warmer clothes – hooray! Part 1 – skirts

I do love wearing winter clothes and that includes tights and jackets and coats, and oh, yes, boots and winter skirts. I expect having raved about these items and after this week’s rain and colder nights there’ll still be warmer

The continuing impact of the move and how I’m dealing with it

We love living in the centre of Brighton and this has made quite a difference to our cultural life.  Last Sunday we went to a gig. OK, it was in the afternoon, but it was a right rock-on affair with

Second-hand September and an out-of-doors Brighton weekend

Hello again I expect most of you know that this is a month where we are supposed to not buy anything new. Despite it being London Fashion Week influencers and models have asked us to only buy second-hand clothes throughout

    About Me

My name is Penny, I am 78 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
