Hello!

This is the first time I’ve sat at my desk for over two weeks – many apologies for my absence and lack of posts. But I had the ‘flu!  And I am still very much in the exhausted recovery stage. Yup, it wasn’t a rotten cold or cough (although I had and still have the cough) but the kind where you can’t lift your head off the pillow. I was like that (starting two Sundays ago) for 3 days!  I’m slightly better and able to potter around the flat, hence this message to you all.

Posts will be back to normal, probably, the following week, as I have very little energy at the moment.

However, I did write something for My Other Blog a couple of weeks back and as you know you can access this blog via the icon at the side when reading on a laptop or at the very end if reading on a phone. If any of you would like to read these blogs as soon as they are published, do feel free to subscribe to My Other Blog via the subscribe button.

Again, apologies if I don’t answer comments and, all you lovely bloggers out there, so sorry, for not visiting your blog. I will as soon as I can but at the moment I have no energy whatsoever.

Also, we continue to have IT problems. Both me and Mr F are beyond annoyed about this. For starters, I’m hoping that the automatic WordPress email will now look as though it is coming from me – fingers crossed!

Thanks so much for reading this. I do appreciate you all so much and a big thank you to those of you who went searching for me. I’m hoping normal service will resume next week.

With love, Penny, the Frugalfashionshopper

Dear Penny…please feel NO PRESSURE to be writing, posting, and commenting. Your good health and strength is important to your readers. Please take care of yourself. When I read that you were so ill, it prompted me to start wearing my mask again as I ran my errands…and I’m in Southern California!
A prayer for healing and regained strength…Charlene H

    Hello, Penny
I can’t have been the only person who thought maybe you been ‘got’. That flu is a real beggar, I hear. So sorry for you; just take your time recovering, such a bug can be very debilitating. Pace yourself and only get back to us when you feel able, not when you think you really must! We can wait. Your good health is prime.
No reply necessary. Just feel better soon. Oh, and I trust you got lots of husbandly tlc while you were poorly! I’m sure you did.
    All the best

Hi Penny Sorry to hear you are poorly, what an old fashioned phrase that is! Hope you will be up and around the charity shops soon, they should have their spring stock in before too long, I can’t wait. Best wishes from Judy in Brighton.

Hi Penny, I did think that we hadn’t heard from you in a while and so sorry to hear you’ve had the dreaded flu.
My husband and I got Covid last week having avoided catching it in the past 3 years. Like you I do the Zoe online Covid survey and when I logged in my symptoms they recommended I do a lateral flow test and sure enough it was positive, otherwise I would have thought it was just a nasty cold. I’ve totally lost my sense of smell but am on the mend. Wishing you too a speedy recovery.

    Dear Penny
I do hope you feel better soon. I know how horrible flu can be having had it a few times in my life.. it’s quite different to a cold.
I do love reading both of your blogs so TLC is what you need now. Your next blog will be all the more enjoyable for having waited a bit longer for it. Take good care of yourself.

    Hi Penny,
A proper dose of the flu can leave you feeling very weedy. I hope the post viral effects don’t last too long, and you soon feel much better. Take care. Trish S

Oh, Penny…those illnesses are the worst! You want to leave your bed and just do something…anything…but you can’t. I hope you’re well on your way to full recovery! I do wonder if all the years of Covid and masking have made the other bugs jealous and even more vicious!

I will take posts from you any time you can post them! I always enjoy them so much! Take care, my friend!

I’m so sorry you’ve been so sick, Penny! The flu is rough. I haven’t had it for since I was in my 20’s (I’m 59 now), and it still stands out as one of the most miserable in my life. So glad you are on the mend.

    Hi Penny
So sorry you have been ill. Hope you feel better soon. On the good side I did get this post, so hopefully the internet problem is solved. Things here in New York have been quiet. the weather has been most peculiar, warm for winter. Not that I am complaining but wondering what have we done to the planet. also thinking we might well get a spell of really cold temps yet. I am able to walk regularly and I have been doing a good bit of reading. On Sunday I attended the local symphony and feel most fortunate that I have this available to me so close to home. Sending love and healing thoughts your way. Darby

I hope you feel better soon Penny. People who have never had real influenza have no idea how horrible it is. You have my absolute sympathy, having had it twice in my life. Nothing at all like even a bad cold. Please take extra special care of yourself to avoid it turning into a longer term post-viral condition – plenty of rest, sleep and healthy food, no pressure from others, plus a bit of whatever you fancy to help you feel better. We’ve missed your posts and look forward to seeing you back but only when you feel ready.
