What am I thinking about on this cold and snowy day? Cruise wear!

Over here in the UK we complain about the weather a lot. In fact, I think it’s in our DNA, which is strange as we don’t do extremes, instead we have a temperate climate with a lot of mild and

    Now I’m 70!

Hmm, is there anything about being 70 that’s changed me in any way?  Nope, still the same old me.  However, I thought I’d share two things with you and it’s all about the maxim I truly believe in which is

    Hatwalk 11 – December 2015

In the summer I often say, ‘ it’s too warm’ or ‘roll on winter’, because I just love my winter clothes. I have so many woollen jumpers, cardigans, hats, scarves and  gloves all waiting for the colder weather.  But really,

Is this a vintage dress? Well, yes and no!

I don’t like vintage, and if you’re new to the blog, the reason is I think putting a vintage label on a dress is an excuse to charge four times the price that a charity shop would charge.  And also

Film night outfit – July 2015

    Film night outfit

Hi there Our last film of the season was the amazing, and slightly bonkers, Grand Budapest Hotel, directed by Wes Anderson.  The Hillcrest Film Society now has a break until October when we’ll have another set of 10 films to

Who remembers Laurence Corner and the fashion for military coats and jackets?

    My grandfather's mess jacket

When I was younger I didn’t seek out charity shops – did they even exist in the 60s? If they did I never went into one. But I did wear second-hand clothing because I did frequent, what we call in

Another month, another post on hats for Judith Boyd’s monthly Hat Attack.  Hello again to everyone in the hat loving community!  This post, however, shows a hat that I wouldn’t wear around town, lovely as it is with its tulle covering and navy

Coats for this cold weather – will you be wearing a padded jacket?

Currently, there’s been a relatively big snow-storm on the East-side of the States, and this weekend the UK will be getting some colder weather. How to dress for it is the key question. I apologise in advance – sorry, really sorry

    About Me

My name is Penny, I am 78 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
