    Summer clothes

On bikinis, burkinis and body scrubs

    On Southwold pier

Well, I think I’ve got Norway and the upper reaches of the Arctic Circle out of my system.  Norway is a wonderful country and very beautiful, but parts of it were so cold!  And it’s not that I’m saying I

Summer clothes – a new dress that wasn’t so good, a second-hand dress that’s for best and a very old dress that was just right!

We’re having a great summer here in the UK with lots of sun and blue sky so I’m wearing frocks a lot, which is unusual for me as skirts are my first love.  But autumn clothes are being featured in

Film night outfit – July 2016

It was the last film of the season, and while the film, Love is Strange, didn’t set the audience alight, the majority said they thought the film, and their experience of it, ‘good’.  A couple of people said it wasn’t

Hi there Our last film of the season was the amazing, and slightly bonkers, Grand Budapest Hotel, directed by Wes Anderson.  The Hillcrest Film Society now has a break until October when we’ll have another set of 10 films to

Summer has arrived – some thoughts on skin protection

    Red shoes

Summer is not my favourite season. Why? Ok, it’s all about my skin, and exposing said skin. The day I wrote this blog post it was cloudy, grey and raining, and a bit cooler, and I went ‘yippee I can

Bringing colour to this grey, wet & wintery month

I haven’t made any New Year resolutions yet, although I have some aims: to exercise and write more. I might tell you about these and other goals for 2015 in another post. But I just have to tell you about

    Ageless Style?

Another month, another Vogue falls from my letterbox to the floor with a thump. Like Invisible Woman, I read Vogue so you don’t have to, but I do pity the poor postie as this month’s Vogue is as thick as

    It’s been too darn hot!

We’ve been having unseasonably hot weather in the UK over the last couple of weeks and it’s been just too darn hot. Temperatures have reached just under 30C (86F) and that’s way too high for a Celt like me. However,

Throwing out the old and welcoming the new – as in new skirts!

I’ve written about de-cluttering before but since I’ve got back from my holiday I’ve gone through my wardrobe, like a dose of salts, as the saying goes, and thrown out loads of my clothes. There’s something about returning from a

    About Me

My name is Penny, I am 78 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
