The look I like and the look I don’t like!

The look.  OK, my very good friend Catherine of AtypicaI60 is so honest.  On her blog she often shows her face and hair how it is.  We see her spots, wrinkles and blotches and hear about the travails and trials

Spring is in the air – and a new look for March

Hello everyone It’s March and there’s a definite feel of Spring in the air in the UK.  The days are getting lighter and the sun is reaching more and more of the garden.  I won’t have a garden in my

Blazers are back – who knew!

I don’t know if you remember my jackets and jeans post last year but if you look here, you can see I tend to wear short, not-quite-cropped jackets, that, to be honest, often leave me feeling a bit chilly (because

Film night outfit – November 2016

Hello everyone! Last Saturday we showed Brooklyn – what a lovely, nostalgic almost elegiac film.  Mark Kermode called it a fairytale of New York and you couldn’t have had a more exquisite actor in Saoirse Ronan who is the sweet

Jeans and jackets – it’s a combo you can wear at any age!

I don’t know about you, but the weather here hasn’t been typical of a British autumn.  It’s been warm and benign with few frosts, and not a lot of rain either.   Usually, I miss that ‘window’ of jacket-wearing weather

    Out and about in Brighton

Last Wednesday we celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary (yes, been married that long) and we did what we love best, which was to visit an exhibition.  But as our trains to London are so bad (long story, don’t ask) we

Film night outfit – June 2016

Here’s another quick and easy post featuring the outfit I wore at the June film screening. This month’s outfit consists of a John Rocha silk skirt (bought in my  local charity shop for £3.99) plus a thin linen jacket that

What to wear out and about in these cool and breezy April days

What’s the weather like where you are? Here in the UK it’s typical April showers for us with the sun out at times, which is lovely until you get an icy wind, which is how it was on Sunday when

Building a look that costs not a lot!

Hi everyone This is a post all about building up a look on next-to-nothing, because, of course, practically every item in my wardrobe has been bought from charity shops for around £5 – you know, it makes sense! I went

    About Me

My name is Penny, I am 78 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
