    It’s that magazine again!

Stop reading at once if you don’t like my occasional rants about Vogue. But it’s one of those months when a large thump on the mat means it’s Vogue’s International Collections Special – in other words, there are a few

Like Mother like Daughter? What do you wear to relax around the house?

Do you tend to wear the same clothes over and over again? You may think I wouldn’t do that.   But I do. So where do I get that from? When my mother moved into sheltered accommodation the ornaments and knick-knacks

    Hat walk – 1

Funnily enough that beautiful fur hat (that featured in my last post and goes with the leopard skin fur coat) is not particularly warm if worn straight on the head, because it leaves the back of my head bare.  Lots

My vintage outfit of the month – February 2015

Here’s that fabulous vintage faux fur coat with matching hat I bought at the Brighton Vintage Fair last summer. Btw, there’s another Vintage Fair (at the Corn Exchange, Brighton) on Sunday 15 February. I wore the coat and hat last Friday,

Coats for this cold weather – will you be wearing a padded jacket?

Currently, there’s been a relatively big snow-storm on the East-side of the States, and this weekend the UK will be getting some colder weather. How to dress for it is the key question. I apologise in advance – sorry, really sorry

My charity shop outfit of the week

Hi everyone One of my New Year’s resolutions was, obvs, to review the blog.  It’s good to reflect on ways to improve, I think.  OK, so here’s what I’m going to do.  See the title of the post?  Every week or so

Why not wear that fabulous outfit that’s right there in the back of your wardrobe?

I don’t constantly dress up, unlike the amazing Sue Kreitzman, who believes you should curate your look at all times. I try, but it isn’t always achieved, particularly when you feel a bit low from a wintery cold (and the

What do you think about wearing a hat around town? A proper one!

My cold has gone and my gloomy mood is greatly improved by my recent charity shop finds. I was out in Brighton, just looking you understand! And I ended up with a complete outfit and more. Here’s the outfit. That’s

Bringing colour to this grey, wet & wintery month

I haven’t made any New Year resolutions yet, although I have some aims: to exercise and write more. I might tell you about these and other goals for 2015 in another post. But I just have to tell you about

‘Tis the season to dress up and clear out the clutter!

I’m better now than before, but it was quite fluey (the bug we had) so I’m not going out to a New Year’s Eve party. Yes, still not quite myself, a bit post-viral and the stye is better but lingering,

    About Me

My name is Penny, I am 78 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
