Another town, another hat, and some great street photography – thanks Mr Frugalfashionshopper!
I’d decided to leave my lovely straw hat (see previous post) behind as the airline I was flying on has very strict rules about what you can and can’t carry-on. Actually, as soon as you start gathering to board you see everyone has much larger cabin-sized suitcases than you have, and are also trying to get as much as they can into a ‘small’ handbag, so maybe I could’ve taken my hat with me.
We spent most of that last day hanging out in Toulouse, visiting the world famous food market. Wow, don’t the French know how to eat and, moreover, display their food! We had lunch outside with the sun high and hot in the blue cloudless sky and then mooched around the shops sitting outside (again) for a last minute coffee. Here I am with our friend who’s lived in France for nearly 30 years. And yes, I’m wearing my black clothes in readiness for the grey British weather, which it was – grey, that is!
But I felt that urge – I needed to take a hat home with me.
And here it is. I spotted it in one of those chic boutiques that only France does so well. Not cheap, not second-hand, but I just loved it. That hat spoke to me so I had to buy it! And btw, remind me to buy another bra.
In fact, I loved it so much I wore it all through that last day, and on into the airport and on the flight (the rules) and all the way home.
That’s a good ad for the clothes company Toa.st
I like that the brim of the hat isn’t too large and floppy.
And here we are taking a final stroll back to the car and on to the airport.
I shall be back next year – can’t wait!
With love and thanks to our friends for being such wonderful hosts and to Mr Frugalfashionshopper for the photos

P.S And sharing the hat with Judith Boyd’s new October #hatattack session plus Catherine Summers and her #iwillwearwhatilike weekly post.
Buy another bra!
(well you did ask to be reminded …. 😉 )
I shall – very soon!
I love your whole outfit. And my philosophy is go thrift most of the time and then you have the money to add the super special things that you love-as a lovely lovely hat!
Exactly – I spend very little on my clothes but every now and then I do buy something new!
What a fabulous hat and it suits you perfectly!
Thank you Veronica – I do love hats! Actually despite it being what I consider very hot the shops in France were full of winter clothes and this is a winter hat – but it was fine wearing it out and about. And anyway the French consider this kind of weather as Autumn weather and it’s not particularly hot to them!
Buy another hat instead of a bra. Bras are overrated. Hats are fun. AND you look great in them! I love the new chapeau! But, I do wish you had squished that other hat in your bag. Do not get me started on some of the cabin luggage that people get away with loading on the plane. I can’t even!
But–the pics are great and you were lucky to have that lingering summer weather!
The thing is the straw hat was quite stiff and not squishable and I hadn’t paid the extra money to even take on a ‘small’ extra handbag – the cheap fare for this ‘cheap’ airline covered just the carry-on cabin suitcase (I am such a cheapskate!) I have never seen such large ‘small’ handbags – people had great big totes. Some people were made to put their ‘handbags’ into their cabin cases – but mine was stuffed to the brim & couldn’t have taken a thing extra. As for the cabin cases – you’re all given measurements – wow, they certainly are kind of elasticated those measurements as some people’s cabin cases were enormous. Never mind – the hat is back at my friend’s house and I shall return and wear it next year 🙂
Love the hat and you do wear it well. I thought French Women wore a lot of black? Black is perfect for traveling – easy to wear – and chic. Looks like a fun visit.
Ah, yes, the black clothes. The thing is they were too hot for the weather there. I’d seen that they’d had a storm in the region and thought, oh, it must be cooler weather now, and indeed it was very much hotter in July and August, but even so, while the weather was cool in the morning it was in the high 20s and probably 30 by the mid-afternoon – just when we decided we must go for a walk!
Ce chapeau est très chic! Did you like Toulouse? I think it’s a fabulous city although I haven’t visited the food market – yet! I know exactly which airline you mean and don’t get me started on cabin luggage…!
Yes, we will visit Toulouse again! The food market is deservedly world famous – it has displays of food that are just mind-blowing!
Love the hat. I think your friend looks a bit like Jack Nicholson.
When he was younger Chris was the spitting image of Mick Jagger!
What a fun time in France. Hats are superb mementos from our travels! Yours looks just right, the cute band really draws the eye. Thanks for sharing with Hat Attack!
