My first charity shop buys since December!

My first charity shop buys since December!

I wasn’t exactly the first in the queue, but just after lunch on Monday I was in my local charity shop and wow, did it feel great to be back. It was also very safe as there was only one other person in the shop apart from the manager, which

Lockdown diaries – 28th October 2020. What keeps you smiling?

Hi everyone And here we are, almost another month gone from this year. Are you finding that the weeks and months pass quickly? I am, and not sure why but the days do tend to blend in and merge together and there have been a couple of times when I

Coats, I love them and especially if they’re red, yellow, green and orange!

Coats, I love them and especially if they’re red, yellow, green and orange!

Hi people I’m so sorry to have not posted last week – where does the time go!  But see my postscript for one reason why 🙂 Anyway, on this rather grey day I’d like to sing the praises of wearing colourful outer-wear. This is partly prompted by Melania Trump’s canary

A good news story and Hair Part I

Hi everyone I have a good news story. But just a thought, both parts of this post might put you right off your breakfast – not sure.  Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained, so here goes! OK I was in the gym changing room, and I ever so slightly knocked my

It’s 11 days to the move!

It’s 11 days to the move!

I continue to declutter and that includes pieces of furniture as well as clothes, and I will be packing my suitcase for the cruise this week. Other odds and ends will be discarded as well. I do love the challenge of a good clearout! I’m finding that as I age

I’m not buying new and this time I mean it

I’m not buying new and this time I mean it

Hi everyone Sometimes it does seem that the world around us is going to hell in a handcart: our political system is riven with dissent (talking about the UK here), our politicians don’t seem to match up to the standards of the past (ditto) and our environment is ruined by

Buying fewer clothes and makeup – I’m trying!

Buying fewer clothes and makeup – I’m trying!

There’s a post on climate change that I’ve been writing on and off for several weeks, but it’s not ready and maybe never will. It’s quite long but just doesn’t read right. Several things prompted my attempt. First, it was Sir David Attenborough’s documentary, Climate Change: The Facts, which was excellent

The blessings of friendship – and cold weather!

The blessings of friendship – and cold weather!

Hello I do like winter weather. Well, I qualify that, as we’re just at the beginning of winter and we’ve not had weeks of that grey damp (gets in your bones) weather that we have here in the UK. Today is a bit grey in the south though, but I

My new charity shop skirt

My new charity shop skirt

Hello What’s new? This week it’s an M&S Per Una skirt bought in the British Heart Foundation (Lewes) charity shop for just £4.49. What a bargain and so unworn too. But, of course, when looking in charity shops, the two things you always say to yourself, is i) what is

What am I thinking about on this cold and snowy day? Cruise wear!

Over here in the UK we complain about the weather a lot. In fact, I think it’s in our DNA, which is strange as we don’t do extremes, instead we have a temperate climate with a lot of mild and damp weather. Well, most of the time! Today, the UK

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 75 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
