Spring clothes

Two skirts and another update on the move!

Two skirts and another update on the move!

Hi everyone I hope you all had a good Easter. Actually is it me or has it become a tad commercialised these days with all the exhortations to buy Easter eggs and other goodies?  Who remembers when the bakeries opened on Good Friday morning (when everything else was shut) and

It’s time to get out those Spring jackets!

It’s time to get out those Spring jackets!

It’s mid-March, which is about the time we get very mixed weather here in the UK. Sometimes it’s freezing and when I read of other bloggers who live in the northern hemisphere having temperatures reaching 70F (that’s 21C to us and a warm mid-Summer’s temperature) I just marvel as it’s

Sea-front walks and a sequinned jacket

Sea-front walks and a sequinned jacket

Hi everyone I really shouldn’t promise anything as there are no skirts in this post! Instead I have a few pix of me in a variety of outerwear. Yes, what a contrast the weather has been lately.  This week the weather in the UK returned to being really chilly with

Hatwalk 30 – May 2018

This is all about the weather we’ve had in the UK, which apparently is going to change for the better the latter part of this week and the next, which is why I’m posting this now as the clothes here will seem all wrong if posted next week.  Gosh, to

Hatwalk 23 – May 2017

I notice that some Stateside bloggers are already talking about wearing warm weather clothes and featuring sleeveless tops.  Wow!  That’s so not the case here!  We do have days when it’s sunny and there’s a blue sky, but even though I live by the south coast there’s often a very

What to wear out and about in these cool and breezy April days

What’s the weather like where you are? Here in the UK it’s typical April showers for us with the sun out at times, which is lovely until you get an icy wind, which is how it was on Sunday when I went to Brighton to celebrate my son’s birthday.  And

Charity shop shopping – it just makes sense

Charity shop shopping – it just makes sense

Every now and then I go out shopping for something that’s not second-hand. I’ve had quite an expensive month, what with going to a physio (my back is improving but it’s all about the morning exercises because I missed a couple of days and felt the consequences) and then my

Skirts – frilly or sleek?

From some of the posts I’ve written you might assume that much of my wardrobe is full to bursting with multi-layered frilly skirts.  But, I’m ruthless at getting rid of things I don’t wear, so my clothes cupboard isn’t as jam-packed as you might think!  I’ve had a great time

The grey days of February – why not bring a little colour into your wardrobe?

I’ve had a couple of days away this week and the sun has shone for several hours and the skies were blue, and it was just such a pleasure to have some light and brightness in the sky.  The British countryside has a muted palette for most of the year

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 76 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
