Party frocks

Have I got news for you! All about the blog and my shopping bargain of the year!

Have I got news for you! All about the blog and my shopping bargain of the year!

Hello everyone Apologies for not posting earlier but I’ve got the cold that’s currently going around the UK and am firing on one cylinder rather than, is it four?  My brain is so befuddled, I can’t think of the right number! Anyway, I was going to do a post on

Some film night outfits worn over the years

Wow, life has been sooo busy since we came back. First, it was the unpacking and the washing.  Why is it, even if you wash things before you come back, there’s still a huge heap on the floor after you’ve unpacked! Then we had to pack a whole load of

Another hat for my collection!

Another hat for my collection!

How’s the build-up to Christmas going for you?  I’m finding it quite hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year, because, you know, it’s not exactly been a good year for the world.  And I almost (but not quite) banned my reading of political articles over the Christmas holidays,

It’s almost party time again!

It’s almost party time again!

Down south where I live in the UK, today’s a proper frosty winter day with cold weather forecast for the rest of the week.  So I should be talking about keeping warm and wearing winter woollies.  Instead, I’m writing about short sleeved party dresses as it’s nearly that time again.

Cruising in the north – Part 2

Cruising in the north – Part 2

This cruise was, for us, quite a different experience from our other cruises, mainly because it was an American cruise line.  I mean, first and foremost, we felt as though we were the only Brits on the ship, which, btw, we loved!  But it was a big, big ship (we

I’m taking a capsule wardrobe, I promise!

I’m taking a capsule wardrobe, I promise!

Hello again Did I mention that I was going on a cruise?   Like last year (and even though I’m going away for 14 days) I’m taking a capsule wardrobe for daywear, sticking predominantly to blue jeans and black skinnies with a mix of black and blue tops.  Here’s an old

On cruises and wearing what you want no matter what your age is!

On cruises and wearing what you want no matter what your age is!

Hi everyone I’m back from our cruise to the Faroe Islands, which was great although I’d forgotten how noisy these ships can be (in the cabin, that is) so it was lovely to get back to dry land and some silence! Anyway, here are some pics and, at the end,

Bringing colour to this grey, wet & wintery month

I haven’t made any New Year resolutions yet, although I have some aims: to exercise and write more. I might tell you about these and other goals for 2015 in another post. But I just have to tell you about my latest charity shop buy(s)! I was feeling quite low,

It’s almost Christmas and I’m not nearly ready for it!

Hello again. I’m back after 16 days away from the blog. I’ve been incredibly busy helping my son to move, and as he’s always rented furnished flats there were two trips to Ikea to buy him some essential stuff like a bed. Phew, what an effort! For those of you

The colours we wear as we age

Growing up with red(ish) hair my mother would say – ‘never wear pink, dear, not with your colouring’, ‘don’t whatever you do wear red’ and ‘blue is the colour that will suit you, dearest’.  I wore that colour most of my childhood. But as I grew older and my hair darkened

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 75 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
