Hello everyone Hope you all had a reasonable Christmas. We did but having opted out of a big gathering last year I will never do that again. although as you know it was just as well as Christmas Day 2019 was when my cold appeared, which led on to –

Brr, it’s cold outside! Let’s look at coats!

Hello everyone Brr! We are currently having several days of damp, cold weather with temperatures down to freezing. And it’s the kind of cold that gets into the bones, plus on the seafront if there’s a north wind as well, it’s brrrrrrr!  Look at this. That was a chilly walk

(Semi) lockdown diaries – 31 August 2020

It’s the end of the month again so here’s another round-up of thoughts on these unusual times. As you can see from the title of this post, I now see myself as being in a semi-lockdown situation, because I have moved a little on my hard-line position. Wearing a mask

Living the normal life! Can I though? Can we?

Hello dear readers How are you all? How are you feeling? A little freaked out and anxious?  I think you can allow yourself to be worried as we’re living in unprecedented times.  But first, I’ve been writing this post as a draft for several weeks now. And when I began

Let’s celebrate our different tastes and views! Films & books to enjoy or not in the New Year!

Hello everyone I do hope you’ve all had an excellent Christmas.  We did although it wasn’t quite as we expected. In fact, we had our family Christmas Day on the 22nd, which was such a delight. I cooked a steak and ale pie with mash and gravy, which was much

Coats, I love them and especially if they’re red, yellow, green and orange!

Hi people I’m so sorry to have not posted last week – where does the time go!  But see my postscript for one reason why 🙂 Anyway, on this rather grey day I’d like to sing the praises of wearing colourful outer-wear. This is partly prompted by Melania Trump’s canary

Jackets Part II and another necklace

Hello again Weather-wise we’re now fully into cold starts in the morning (for the UK) and a lot of rain, perhaps more than usual. Fortunately, even our leader (the one that I am not fully in tune with!) has said that the flooding in the north of our country is

On hats and coats and other things – like painting one’s nails instead of baking!

I expect you’re very busy. It’s just one week to Christmas and there’s much to do. We’re hosting the Christmas lunch and there’s all the food shopping to complete and orders to be put in. Btw, I don’t do ANY baking. Not now, not any more. I used to make

My yellow coat plus sorting the lighting!

Hello everyone As promised I’m featuring a wonderful yellow coat I bought in a charity shop in Poole (Dorset, UK) which cost all of £5, I mean, when you see it, you’ll be amazed at the quality and, therefore, the price.  But first of all, thank you for all the

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 74 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
