Here’s to better things to come!

Here’s to better things to come!

Hi everyone Got my vaccination done last Wednesday and, my word, the whole roll-out of vaccines in the UK is an incredibly efficient operation, and that, of course, is because it was not outsourced to an expensive private sector contractor but organised by our wonderful NHS. And what’s more they

Lockdown winter wear – time for something different!

Lockdown winter wear – time for something different!

Hi everyone Hope you’re continuing to be OK, safe and well. We’re fine and doing the same old stuff and just hanging in there until we get our vaccine, which in the UK seems to be a bit of a post-code lottery with some areas streets ahead in the numbers

Two Second-hand September buys

Two Second-hand September buys

Hi everyone Three cheers! I managed to get through September without buying any new clothes, which was so good as, really, over the last few month I have bought far too many new clothes, all online, of course. Some were necessary to accommodate my expanding waist (!) but I did

Is shopping going to change from traipsing around the shops to online?

Is shopping going to change from traipsing around the shops to online?

Hello everyone The charity shop just around the corner from me has reopened, but have I gone in it?  No, and I won’t until the number of UK cases and deaths per day go significantly down, as in, far, far further down than our government trumpets at its daily nonsensical

What I’ve been wearing lately!

What I’ve been wearing lately!

Hello everyone I had a short break from blogging for a variety of reasons, but how are you all these days?  We continue to self-isolate, and apart from taking a short walk for fresh air we’re not interested in any lessening of the lockdown.  Personally won’t feel safe until I’m

New outfits and an attempt at mask making

New outfits and an attempt at mask making

Hello again I have some new outfits to show you, some thoughts on the situation, plus the mask-making that I haven’t quite got right. Earlier in the year February, when we weren’t in lockdown, and the numbers getting the virus were low, I went through a spate of buying from

Sea-front walks and a sequinned jacket

Hi everyone I really shouldn’t promise anything as there are no skirts in this post! Instead I have a few pix of me in a variety of outerwear. Yes, what a contrast the weather has been lately.  This week the weather in the UK returned to being really chilly with

A new skirt and Hair Part II

A new skirt and Hair Part II

Hello again I’m always on the lookout for skirts, which I prefer to jeans, pants and trousers.  I have two pairs of black skinny jeans one of which has sparkles on it and which I wear with a top in the evening, and I’ll wear that pair when we go

I’m back in Brighton once more!

Hello everyone I’ve been away!  And I also had a bit of a break from the blog – apologies!  But it was so good to return to an old but favourite haunt – Suffolk! For those of you living outside the UK, Suffolk is part of the rounded bit on

Back from my short break in France with some great memories and a couple of great buys!

Hello everyone I’m back and busily working my way through piles of washing and loads of emails. We had a wonderful time catching up with friends who live in France; one for 30 years and the others 15 years. We flew to Toulouse and stayed with Chris who, 45 years

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 74 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
