Hair! Some common problems and solutions

Hair! Some common problems and solutions

Hi everyone I’m a bit late this week – I’ll tell you the reason at the end of the post. Hair! This is a tricky one as I am not an expert on hair, and furthermore have been blessed with my mother’s Scottish red hair gene, but someone asked me

There’s a change in the weather – so do you need different clothes?

Hello everyone Writing this post was a bit of an effort this week as I’m feeling very sleep deprived – more about this below – but first what a contrast in the weather! Yesterday we had a storm off the Atlantic blowing its way across the nation. It wasn’t too

This and that and a swishing party planned – for the future!!!

Hi I don’t know if this happens elsewhere but here in the Uk whenever the media publishes an article on the older population (as in from 65+) it is usually accompanied by a photo of either a sad old woman looking out of the window or a pair of hands

Grey hair rules – for me, anyway!

Grey hair rules – for me, anyway!

You know I always say, do as you please and wear what you want! That rule also applies to hair – you do as you feel you should. Because, only you will know when it’s right to go grey and au naturel. And especially, don’t listen to anyone extolling the

The thing about white hair

The thing about white hair

It’s two years now since I had my hair dyed. It was October 2016 when I last had my roots  coloured, and I look at past photos (here’s one taken a few years ago) and I think, gosh, that was a bit yellow and artificial. Not that I thought that at

A close look at health, wellbeing and just having fun – as the years roll by!

Had another birthday recently – 72 now. I asked myself how did that happen! Well, it’s just something you cannot escape.  The years roll by and there you are – you’re over 70! I do think turning 70 is crunch time.  Listen, when I reached my 60s I felt absolutely

Hatwalk 30 – May 2018

This is all about the weather we’ve had in the UK, which apparently is going to change for the better the latter part of this week and the next, which is why I’m posting this now as the clothes here will seem all wrong if posted next week.  Gosh, to

What do you do? Hair up or down, bar of soap, bath or shower?

Hello again I thought I’d have some fun and answer some questions that are going round the blogosphere (started with the Blended Blog, I believe).  Look, I read this stuff so you don’t have to!  But rather like another blogger (Anna from Mutton Style and I) I quite enjoyed thinking

A Happy New Year to you all!

This is just a quick last post for the year 2017, and quite a visual one at that with a look at my favourite outfits and bargains, which include: The hat of the year It’s a ridiculously over-the-top hat, but I cannot get rid of it, so it’s a keeper

Transitioning to grey

Transitioning to grey

Hello again Gosh what a shock. Got home Friday evening after a very normal on-time flight (Toulouse to Gatwick) but I’m just not a good traveller. I know it’s a short flight as opposed to trans-atlantic flights but, although I don’t dislike flying I don’t like it either. And feeling

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 74 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
