My first charity shop buys since December!

My first charity shop buys since December!

I wasn’t exactly the first in the queue, but just after lunch on Monday I was in my local charity shop and wow, did it feel great to be back. It was also very safe as there was only one other person in the shop apart from the manager, which

How did this happen?

How did this happen?

I’ll be 75 next birthday (in June) and I often think along the lines of How.Did.That.Happen, this ageing thing? Because it creeps up on you and then boom, it’s there! I’ve said this before, that when I was 40 I thought no different to a 30-yr-old, same when I was

Lockdown diaries – March 2021

Hi again everyone I wonder whether I’ll be continuing this diary throughout the year or will it come to an end soon? Actually, I’m thinking that I might do one more at the end of April and possibly May, and then maybe continue the theme of the post as a

Another coat – surely not! Well….

Hello everyone There will  be more about this at the end of the month but today (Monday 29th March) some of the severe restrictions we’ve been living under since Christmas are being removed, and we can now visit other people and sit in their gardens – three cheers to that! I

Celebrating women everywhere, especially my mother!

Celebrating women everywhere, especially my mother!

Hi everyone And here’s to women around the world, happy International Women’s Day (which was actually 8 March). I see the theme this year is Choose to Challenge. Yes, that’s a good one, as I agree that we should challenge everything, or at the very least keep a critical and

Lockdown Diaries – February 2021

Lockdown Diaries – February 2021

Hi everyone Phew, bit of a challenging week last week as I was recovering from tripping and falling hard on my face, oops a daisy as they say. I was fine, albeit a bit shocked so no need to worry, but my neck is a bit stiff so haven’t done

Looking back, looking forward

Looking back, looking forward

Hello again I wonder if you’re like me, and find yourself saying, ‘when we can, we’ll go out to…….’ (fill in assorted details of different places and experiences). More about that wish in the next post as we might indeed be able to go to a restaurant in the UK

Another coat? Yes, and it’s colour? Yellow or maybe mustard!

Hello everyone Over 15 million people are now vaccinated in the UK, apparently that’s 86% of all the over-70s. The 15 million are the people in the four top priority groups and the vaccination programme has now moved on to people aged 65 to 69.  More about all of that

Here’s to better things to come!

Here’s to better things to come!

Hi everyone Got my vaccination done last Wednesday and, my word, the whole roll-out of vaccines in the UK is an incredibly efficient operation, and that, of course, is because it was not outsourced to an expensive private sector contractor but organised by our wonderful NHS. And what’s more they

Hi everyone Here we are with another month done and dusted. I don’t know about you but I think this month has been one of the worst of this pandemic. We were all so pleased to move on from 2020 and most of us greeted the new year with delight,

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 74 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
