Brr, it’s cold outside! Let’s look at coats!

Hello everyone Brr! We are currently having several days of damp, cold weather with temperatures down to freezing. And it’s the kind of cold that gets into the bones, plus on the seafront if there’s a north wind as well, it’s brrrrrrr!  Look at this. That was a chilly walk

Lockdown diary – 31 May 2020

Hello dear readers How are things now that lockdown seems to be ebbing away?  To be absolutely honest the announcements that we could begin the process of coming out of our isolation unsettled me a lot.  As you know I am not ‘shielding’ because no-one told me that I was

Lockdown outfits – April 2020

Lockdown outfits – April 2020

There’s a lot of clothes and outfits in my wardrobe going unworn. I bought the most wonderful edgy skirt just before all the shops shut and can’t quite bring myself to wear it as it’s not, in any way, an indoor stay-at-home skirt. However, I’ll dig it out and take

Living the normal life! Can I though? Can we?

Hello dear readers How are you all? How are you feeling? A little freaked out and anxious?  I think you can allow yourself to be worried as we’re living in unprecedented times.  But first, I’ve been writing this post as a draft for several weeks now. And when I began

Health & Wellbeing Part 2 Maintenance – that’s eight hours and counting!

I’m a great fan of Nora Ephron (such a brilliant writer) and especially her book, ‘I Feel Bad About My Neck and other thoughts on being a woman’. I’ve just got it off the shelf and flicked through it. For me, two of her pieces stand out: there’s the one about

Hatwalk 34 – December 2018. Plus some other stuff so don’t be put off if you don’t like hats!!!

I see I posted about hats twice in November, but didn’t acknowledge the subject so here in December is the post that says definitely this is about hats!  And a bit more – see below! Yes, I’ve posted about hats 34 times. I have many hats. It was 27 at

Pale but interesting – that’s you!

This is a post for those of you who are concerned about that loss of pigment and the consequential pallor that you get as you age. Btw, no pics of me this week as I’ve just had a tooth extracted leaving one side of my face with a cheek that’s

Hatwalk 32 – September 2018

Hello again Here’s a short and sweet post to celebrate the fact I’m wearing contacts and eye makeup again – yay! And here’s a new hat bought from a charity shop for £10. I think that’s quite expensive for a hat that I’m not sure I’ll wear all the time

Is your face ‘you’? Your image, your look, your self – who and what are we?

See the title? I could also be saying, who am I?  Wow – that’s a big question, but I’m feeling somewhat discombobulated (I love that word) at the moment. We’ve just returned to our flat, after a week away. But not quite. Our bathroom is a plaster shell and we

What do you do? Hair up or down, bar of soap, bath or shower?

Hello again I thought I’d have some fun and answer some questions that are going round the blogosphere (started with the Blended Blog, I believe).  Look, I read this stuff so you don’t have to!  But rather like another blogger (Anna from Mutton Style and I) I quite enjoyed thinking

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 76 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
