De-cluttering

A glimpse of our streamlined and de-cluttered apartment

A glimpse of our streamlined and de-cluttered apartment

Hi everyone Moving home in the UK can be very stressful as it was for us, and it had quite an impact on my physical self and I shall be talking about that in my next post (not to worry, as I’m sorting myself out) but today it’s about how

It’s 11 days to the move!

It’s 11 days to the move!

I continue to declutter and that includes pieces of furniture as well as clothes, and I will be packing my suitcase for the cruise this week. Other odds and ends will be discarded as well. I do love the challenge of a good clearout! I’m finding that as I age

I’m de-cluttering again! For a good reason!

An update on my pledge to not buy new, I’ve bought my one annual pair of new shoes, but they’re not Doc Martens. They’re flat and comfortable brogues with a hint of wackiness as they’re silver in colour. Not only do I not wear heels because I have weak ankles,

Being tidy

Being tidy

I haven’t always been this tidy. But a small flat makes you put away stuff quick.  At this point in my life I don’t leave things lying around as there aren’t any spare rooms for things to be just dumped. Downsizing certainly makes you face up to how many possessions

Decluttering again!

Decluttering again!

I’ve had another purge of my wardrobe. I decluttered a great many things before I moved in to this little flat, and not just clothes, but kitchen equipment, books, ornaments and pictures. Why is this item here, I asked? Do I truly want to keep this?  In a shiny modern

It’s that time of the year again!

It’s that time of the year again!

Did you have a good Christmas?  I did, but gosh, if you think I look a bit tired in the pics below, I don’t mind admitting that cooking and hosting the Christmas feast is a tad fatiguing – plus I’m just about getting towards the end of the 3-week cold

De-cluttering – am I any good at it? Are you?

De-cluttering – am I any good at it? Are you?

As most of you know I’m down-sizing big-time to a flat (or apartment, as they say over the pond).  It will have 2-bedrooms, a living area and a small kitchen and bathroom. And no garden. I’m ready for this.  I wasn’t at 60 or 65, or even, 68, but at

Why do we hang on to clothes we don’t wear?

Why do we hang on to clothes we don’t wear?

I used to hang on to clothes that I didn’t wear, especially if they had been expensive to buy. ‘Oh, no, I couldn’t possibly throw that out’, I’d say, ‘as it cost x, and, you know, it would be such a waste’. I also kept clothes I didn’t particularly like,

Bringing colour to this grey, wet & wintery month

I haven’t made any New Year resolutions yet, although I have some aims: to exercise and write more. I might tell you about these and other goals for 2015 in another post. But I just have to tell you about my latest charity shop buy(s)! I was feeling quite low,

‘Tis the season to dress up and clear out the clutter!

I’m better now than before, but it was quite fluey (the bug we had) so I’m not going out to a New Year’s Eve party. Yes, still not quite myself, a bit post-viral and the stye is better but lingering, so don’t feel very sociable. And I haven’t hit the

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 76 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
