This and that and a coat that reminds me of happy days to come!

Hi everyone How’s life treating you?  It was really cold (for the UK) last week and I wrapped up and layered with thick woollen tops, thick leggings plus a woollen skirt and socks, and I wore my outdoor furry boots indoors as our flat is hard to keep warm. The

Brr, it’s cold outside! Let’s look at coats!

Hello everyone Brr! We are currently having several days of damp, cold weather with temperatures down to freezing. And it’s the kind of cold that gets into the bones, plus on the seafront if there’s a north wind as well, it’s brrrrrrr!  Look at this. That was a chilly walk

Hi everyone How are things with you?  I’ll have more to say about how England is coping with a reduction in Lockdown Version 2.0 and a consequent move to a ‘tiered’ approach to the pandemic at the end of the month. For now, in the middle of November with the

Hello everyone Here we go again, back in lockdown. How are you feeling about this?  My heart goes out to those who have lost their jobs or near to losing them, but personally, I’ve got so used to not doing all that much that really, it hasn’t made much impact

Hello everyone Did you know that last Saturday 10th October was World Mental Health day? Mind, the UK mental health charity, reminds us that mental health problems stretches further than the anxiety and angst a lot of us are feeling at the moment, indeed mental health problems are serious and

Secondhand September? Maybe it’s more of a case of shopping my closet!

Secondhand September? Maybe it’s more of a case of shopping my closet!

Hello again! Well, I went ahead, got down my Autumn/Fall clothes, put away my flimsiest Summer frocks and skirts, and all of that just in time for some warmer weather over the next few days! Not to worry, I think it was time to have a look at what I

Lockdown outfits – April 2020

Lockdown outfits – April 2020

There’s a lot of clothes and outfits in my wardrobe going unworn. I bought the most wonderful edgy skirt just before all the shops shut and can’t quite bring myself to wear it as it’s not, in any way, an indoor stay-at-home skirt. However, I’ll dig it out and take

Hi people I’m so sorry to have not posted last week – where does the time go!  But see my postscript for one reason why 🙂 Anyway, on this rather grey day I’d like to sing the praises of wearing colourful outer-wear. This is partly prompted by Melania Trump’s canary

Hello everyone I’m still rearranging things in the new flat including my makeup drawers, which are now my costume jewellery drawers. I am, btw, going to re-start the makeup videos, not immediately, but at some point. There’s a whole load of reasons why I stopped them and I’ll be writing

I’m not buying new and this time I mean it

Hi everyone Sometimes it does seem that the world around us is going to hell in a handcart: our political system is riven with dissent (talking about the UK here), our politicians don’t seem to match up to the standards of the past (ditto) and our environment is ruined by

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 74 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
