Film night outfit – May 2016

Film night outfit – May 2016

Hi Everyone Just squeezing this post in before I go. Here’s the outfit I wore at our May film screening.   Note that I wear quite utilitarian skirts and tops as there’s work to be done and I need to look business-like.  The top is an old one and that’s

Film night outfit – April 2016

We all had such a blast on Saturday night at our local film society’s monthly film screening.  I know we did because (I love it when this happens) at the end of the film the audience clapped.  But who wouldn’t give a big hurrah at the end of Whiplash.  Have

Film night outfit – March 2016

I’ve done it again.  It’s the end of the month and I haven’t posted the outfit I wore at our Hillcrest Film Society’s March screening.  We showed Pride, which was hugely popular with our audience who gave it a round of applause at the end.  I felt both happy at

Grey for the autumn – why not try this excellent colour

I packed far too many clothes for that cruise. Seriously, I could have taken fewer evening outfits, and as for my day clothes, well, the colours oscillated from that in-your-face yellow cardigan and scarf (which looked good) to pink trousers and a green t-shirt (never wore it). It’s been too darn hot!

We’ve been having unseasonably hot weather in the UK over the last couple of weeks and it’s been just too darn hot. Temperatures have reached just under 30C (86F) and that’s way too high for a Celt like me. However, friends who usually love the heat have said that it’s

The colours we wear as we age

Growing up with red(ish) hair my mother would say – ‘never wear pink, dear, not with your colouring’, ‘don’t whatever you do wear red’ and ‘blue is the colour that will suit you, dearest’.  I wore that colour most of my childhood. But as I grew older and my hair darkened

Never say never – I’ve bought a mid-length skirt for the cruise!

Some time ago I said I really hope mid-length skirts don’t come back into fashion as I see them as frumpy. And can I say to anyone who loves that type of skirt that I’m only applying that to myself. It’s me that feels a bit dowdy wearing a skirt

Skirts – frilly or sleek?

From some of the posts I’ve written you might assume that much of my wardrobe is full to bursting with multi-layered frilly skirts.  But, I’m ruthless at getting rid of things I don’t wear, so my clothes cupboard isn’t as jam-packed as you might think!  I’ve had a great time

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 74 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.
