I’m house-sitting again!

Hello everyone I’m back house-sitting again in Lewes and have been there for a week now, and how nice it is to do a bit of gardening in that wild garden of my daughter’s and get that sense of satisfaction after a few hours work outside in good weather.  Also I

I’m not buying new and this time I mean it

Hi everyone Sometimes it does seem that the world around us is going to hell in a handcart: our political system is riven with dissent (talking about the UK here), our politicians don’t seem to match up to the standards of the past (ditto) and our environment is ruined by

The not-quite January sales

The not-quite January sales

Once upon a time sales started the day after Christmas, which is Boxing Day in the UK and, as you know, nothing to do with boxing (!) and I think I recall that even further back sales began on the 1st of January!  But now we have Black Friday (quite

On hats and coats and other things – like painting one’s nails instead of baking!

I expect you’re very busy. It’s just one week to Christmas and there’s much to do. We’re hosting the Christmas lunch and there’s all the food shopping to complete and orders to be put in. Btw, I don’t do ANY baking. Not now, not any more. I used to make

Hatwalk 34 – December 2018. Plus some other stuff so don’t be put off if you don’t like hats!!!

An unsuitable dress?

An unsuitable dress?

Last week I bought a dress from a charity shop for £8. It caught my eye as the material was pretty and, joy of joys, it still had its original store label, so it was unworn, it was new.  Wow! Mind you, I could see it was a tight and

The blessings of friendship – and cold weather!

The blessings of friendship – and cold weather!

Hello I do like winter weather. Well, I qualify that, as we’re just at the beginning of winter and we’ve not had weeks of that grey damp (gets in your bones) weather that we have here in the UK. Today is a bit grey in the south though, but I

My new charity shop skirt

Hello What’s new? This week it’s an M&S Per Una skirt bought in the British Heart Foundation (Lewes) charity shop for just £4.49. What a bargain and so unworn too. But, of course, when looking in charity shops, the two things you always say to yourself, is i) what is

Hello everyone There’s been a bit of an absence here.  It was just a busy, sociable, meeting friends kind of week, plus I posted on My Other Blog. Stuff (otherwise known as Brexit) is happening, or not happening, people, so read all about it there. I went to Pilates twice

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 75 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
