Hi everyone

In contrast to last month, I’ve been very abstemious and bought only 3 items from charity shops this month. However I’m really pleased with them. You’ve already seen the skinny leggings but here’s the first of the two remaining charity shop finds.

It’s a crazy skirt!

It’s from Cos, which is a good label, and it has two really big pockets that wrap round the skirt to the back.

Here’s a better view of those pockets with me wearing it.

Here I am wearing it without my yellow M&S cardi.

And with the cardi.

I also bought a brown boiled wool jacket

It has a great hood.

And here I am with it up.

And down.

At £18 for the skirt and £25 for the jacket they’re not quite the usual charity shop price. But, you know, prices are going up everywhere and you can’t resent the price especially as the charity shop is run to benefit a hospice. And of course, in comparison to Cos prices the skirt was a bargain – and what’s more it’s fun to wear! Everyone needs a crazy skirt!

That’s all for now, the end of the month review is coming soon. Where does that time go? This month has flashed by! It’ll be Christmas before you know it – eek!

With love, Penny, the Frugalfashionshopper

P.S. That photo of my back to you with all that hair?  I’ve been to the hairdresser and had some of it cut off, it was time to do it – see Instagram for sight of my new hair 😀

    Morning Penny
Thanks for this posting. I love the skirt and the jacket – not sure about together 😉 Your snug boots are great too. Look forward to the end of month review.
    All the best, Mary x

Looking closer at the photo I agree with you, the jacket will be good with jeans or a slimline longer skirt.

The boots are so warm and just what is needed over the next few days!

All the very best to you too, Mary 😊

Hellooo, Penny! It is the wee hours of the day after our American Thanksgiving so it is very appropriate that I send a BIG THANK YOU for your blog and the spirit and charm you bring to the frugal fashion scene! Even more, I so enjoy reading of your energy and effort put towards your health and well-being. So important for all of us to learn and do! ❤️ I so appreciate how you welcome each one of your reader’s comments and experiences…even from across the Pond.
Love that Cos skirt! And wearing it with those boots is perfect…

P/S our changed health insurance may support a pilates class and/or private instructor. I looked up a few in the local area and will move forward towards more strengthening and exercise.

First of all, Charlene, Happy Thanksgiving – hope you had a great day!

And thank you for all your kind words. I really enjoy hearing from my friends over the pond – it’s interesting and indeed heartwarming to know people from many places around the world. I love hearing about the American way of life which is actually very different from ours – the mutual language obscures those differences and yet friends can be made regardless.

And good news about your insurance. Take care 😊

I love both pieces. You look so funky and cute in the two items together. You have beautiful hair Penny. My natural silver will hopefully be all out by next summer and I am so looking forward to it. Going from a dark brunette to a bright silver is quite a change but I am loving it.

Thank you Lise. My true hair colour was covered up for decades but I’m loving seeing the red hairs appear again! Good for you, I think natural colours are the best – it just took me a long time to realise that!!!

Super skirt, that’s something I like about charity shopping getting something different in this case the shapely pockets.

    • 28th November 2021 at 10:10 am

Those pockets are amazing and I shall wear it out when it’s just a little warmer as at the moment it’s very much a long skirt temperature outdoors – as in freeeezing! Was pleased to hear about your successful cataract op and its outcome. I shall be having one I expect in a couple of years time, but it’s good to know.

      Thanks 😊

That skirt is very nice, there is something so appealing about skirts with pockets isn’t it. Have a great weekend!

Thank you Nancy – I really love those pockets. It’s freeeezing here at the moment so not sure I’m even going out today!

I do like the color blocking on the jacket. I wish I had more items like this in my own wardrobe. And that skirt is something you can really pull off. Those boots are great. they have an edginess and they look quite warm. Yesterday was American Thanksgiving. the first time in a while the whole family was together, including my beautiful (of course) Granddaughter just home from college. a joyous occasion!
always look forward to your postings Penny. Darby

Here’s wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving and I’m so very glad you had a good day with your family, one that included your granddaughter from college, how wonderful.

Thanks for the kind words Darby. And actually re: the clothes, I can see the two items don’t quite go together. The skirt should either have a long coat over it or a short jacket, and the boiled wool jacket will be good with black jeans.

You take care and stay safe 😊

Now that’s a wonderful crazy skirt Penny. It’s so much better to have those one of a kind pieces!!!

    • 28th November 2021 at 10:16 am

It is a crazy skirt – so fun to have those kind of items in the closet!

You look great in the skirt with the yellow cardigan, it really lifts the outfit. Like the boots too. I’m trying not to buy anything as I’m supposed to be reducing my wardrobe. As you might have guessed I’ve not quite manged it by buying two dresses this month but I will put at least 2 in the charity bag. One is red with irregular white spots and the hem has a frill around it being longer at the back. Makes me think of Spanish dancers ! I may wear it at Christmas. ole!

    • 28th November 2021 at 10:18 am

I do like the sound of the red dress and yes, do wear it for Christmas – love the colour red for that day.

The skirt and the yellow cardigan is just right, the two items though don’t really go together and I can see that now I’ve looked at the photos more closely.

Thanks, as ever, Lynda, have a good week.
