Hello again

Here’s a short and sweet post to celebrate the fact I’m wearing contacts and eye makeup again – yay! And here’s a new hat bought from a charity shop for £10. I think that’s quite expensive for a hat that I’m not sure I’ll wear all the time (unlike a beret or my fedoras) but it’s such a great hat, I couldn’t resist it!

It’s got a net all the way around it.

It was yesterday when I put my contacts in for the first time in 3 weeks. I’d got used to the glasses, but still I was so pleased to be myself once more.

I’m sharing this with Judith Boyd’s monthly #hatattack session.  I see there are fewer shares up on that first of the month post on Style Crone, which is such a shame. Judith has said that maybe more and more people are going to Instagram, but I think nothing beats a good blog post, and I do hope Judith (at Style Crone) keeps that hat share going!  Because I think hats should be celebrated and indeed encouraged. People have said to me that maybe I wear hats because I live in a country where people wear hats a lot. Actually, hardly anyone wears hats during the summer. I didn’t see one in London the last time I went, and in the winter it’s mainly the ubiquitous woolly bobble hat with maybe a few more proper hats worn in Brighton, but not, funnily enough, in London. So glad I live where I do and can wear quite a large hat without feeling too self-conscious, because, you know, it’s Brighton!

Anyway, I spent a very happy morning on Friday putting on the makeup, the hat and trying out several outfits including one I’m going wear on Sunday.  Look at the mess I made of my bed though!

And where am I going on Sunday? Find out in my blog post early next week!

Until then, with love

Penny, the Frugalfashionshopper

P.S. Thank you so much for all the good wishes you sent me while I wasn’t feeling 100% – nearly all better now!

The dress was given to me about a week ago. It’s originally from Toast – will do a post about it soon

Love the hat – I had one almost identical to it, which vanished in the chaos of a move. Wear it lots!

OK! I’ll wear it to the Pilates class when it gets a bit colder!

Penny, so very glad your eye has healed. Because of you, I kept up the search for a makeup that did not settle in the wrinkles and pores, and it makes me happy. I just wanted to say, if that is your idea of a mess when picking out something you should not see my bed when I am not sure what to wear. Your room looks so neat and tidy. Do hope the bathroom is showing signs of completion. Love having you in the in box for any size post.

Yes, the eye is at about 95% better – it’s still a bit discoloured if you looked very close!

I guess I am quite a neat and tidy person. But now we are in such a small place I do make a big effort to be tidy most of the time – so I thought the bed was spectacularly messy, for me! And thank you so much for your kind words about the blog 🙂

Hi Diane, care to share make of eye makeup?

    • 8th September 2018 at 5:36 pm

Hi Tina. I was meaning the face, which is Covergirl and Olay simply ageless with a fantastic foundation brush. The eye makeup I use most is Lise Watier, but do have a drawer full of many brands. Eyeliner overload, as always changing.

The dress is second hand but has been gifted to me (actually she was just about to send it to a charity shop!). I’m so glad to have it as originally it came from Toast and that’s a shop that’s usually way beyond my budget, apart, that is, from their sales.

Hurray! Make up and contact lenses again.

I love that hat – a veil makes a hat something special, I think and your new hat looks fab on you. Thank you for the reminder about hat walk I always forget about it….

Hope you enjoyed your day out in your new hat, make up and contact lenses.

Looks like more nice weather on the way….

So pleased to be wearing the contacts although it is a bit as though I’m starting from scratch as my eyes are a bit sore after only a few hours, so this week I’m wearing them every other day.

It’s lovely weather here in Brighton xxx

Yea, for your eye getting better because I know your contacts are important. Love the hat and I’m sure you’re heading over to Judith’s. Its been so long since I’ve put anything on there. Well, true hat season is almost upon us isn’t it. I might have to remedy that.

Thanks for linking up to The Slow Fashion Walk. I so appreciate it.

Oh yes, Terri, I’m so pleased to be wearing the contacts again – I mean my face just isn’t the same with glasses!

It’s such a pleasure to be in the Slow Fashion Walk. As for Judith’s share, the numbers are right down – such a shame but maybe there’ll be more in the winter. I know I wear hats most days in the winter (you’re probably the same) but in the summer not so much.

Thanks again for hosting your monthly share.
