In the summer I often say, ‘ it’s too warm’ or ‘roll on winter’, because I just love my winter clothes. I have so many woollen jumpers, cardigans, hats, scarves and gloves all waiting for the colder weather. But really, I shouldn’t wish away the summer weather, as I forget that winter isn’t all blue skies, and sun shining on leaves and trees, and sparkling on a frosted pathway. Nope, here in the UK it’s often grey and glum, with a lot of rain and not even all that cold. In fact, it’s rather too warm for the time of year, which is verging on the alarming.
But rapidly moving away from this being another political post (I shall have that debate on climate on my other blog) for this post, which I’m sharing on Judith Boyd’s Hat Attack, I’ve got out a superb warm, and somewhat romantic winter hat.
The hat was bought last year at a vintage fair in Brighton for about £25, and I think it’s real fur, not sure what. At the fair I also bought this amazing faux fur coat.
Of course, it’s far too warm to wear these items now, but I live in hope, not for that awful damp cold that we often get in the UK. No, what I’d love are some sharp frosts, and a significant drop in the temperature. If at the same time we could have some blue skies and just a bit of sunshine that would be lovely! Here I am at the beginning of this year in a well-known spot not far from where I live – and the sun is shining! It’s ages since we had anything like the blue skies shown in the pic – deep sigh!
Hope you’re all keeping warm and well.
With love
Penny, the frugalfashionshopper
P.S. As I post this, for the first time for yonks, we’ve got blue skies – yippee!!
P.P.S I’m also linking this post with Catherine Summer’s #iwillwearwhatilike weekly share The theme is faux fur, which made me think of this lovely winter ensemble – thank you Catherine for your prompt!
Nice to meet you Penny ( Judith´s link up)
Love your coat and your blog.

And I’m so pleased to have met you on Judith’s link. I love your blog! And your wonderful clothes! xxx
Terrific outfit!
Thank you! Yes, it is a great outfit and bought on the same day at the same vintage fair! I have worn it a couple of times but not during the day, only when I go out to an evening thing.
Wow, you look smashing! Love both the hat and coat!
Thank you so much, Donna! Just waiting for some colder weather so I can wear it out and about.
Love reading your blog, and LOVE your hat and coat, soooo glamorous! I have a lovely fur hat too, which I’ve had for about 20 years, still looks good, but I always feel highly self conscious in it – not the sort of thing you don to pop into Tesco.
Hi Lesley and very good to meet you – yes, it’s such a lovely coat. Glad to hear you’ve got a fur hat as well. I think I would wear the hat and the coat more if I lived somewhere colder so it only comes out in the evening. I have to admit I’ve only worn that ensemble a couple of times but never mind, it’s there just waiting for the right occasion!
Hello there! I’ve come over from Hat Attack and I LOVE your hat! It is gorgeous!!! So fluffy and delightfully warm looking- not surprised you want to wear it more. The coat is luxurious and beautiful too! Tis a pleasure to meet you!xx
Hi Kezzie – so nice to meet you! Isn’t Hat Attack great. It’s so good that hat lovers from around the world are getting together just because they love hats! Just off to Judith’s now to have a look. Do you have a blog – will look.
A gorgeous winter ensemble! The hat, the coat and your hair create a stunning portrait of the season. Thank you so much for your continued participation in my monthly Hat Attack. It means so much to me. Happy Holidays Penny!
Thank you so much for your comment. I shall never miss a Hat Attack as I just love the opportunity to mingle with other hat lovers – and also I love hats! Thank you again for that opportunity x
