My summer wardrobe, but am I the milkmaid type?

Hello everyone The weather here is beginning to warm up a little and this week is getting to the heights of 23-25C, that’s 73-77F, which is hot for us here in the UK. So I thought it time to show you 2 of the 3 charity shop dresses I bought

Mid-season wear for cool days

Hello everyone Well, yesterday in the south of England it was a cold, cold day, brrr, and it’s May! Hmm! Fortunately I hadn’t put away all my cold weather clothes so I wore leggings plus a mid-length charity shop skirt and a yellow wooly jumper with a long sleeved, roll-neck

Two skirts and another update on the move!

Two skirts and another update on the move!

Hi everyone I hope you all had a good Easter. Actually is it me or has it become a tad commercialised these days with all the exhortations to buy Easter eggs and other goodies?  Who remembers when the bakeries opened on Good Friday morning (when everything else was shut) and

Two new raincoats and more news of the move!

Hello everyone We continue to unpack and things look a little better. It’s getting there as Mr F often likes to say. And that’s the view from our bedroom window, which is quite a contrast to the urban view we had in the last place of a block of flats

Hello everyone I hope you’re all keeping well and not too anxious considering the circumstances in the east of Europe. I have written a further post on My Other Blog on the situation, which as you know you access via the icon. And in the meantime, my skirt arrived!  Yay!!!

This and that and a question – should I get this skirt?

This and that and a question – should I get this skirt?

Hi everyone Hope you’re all well and safe and if you’re in the UK I hope you battened down the hatches on Friday, and enjoyed (if that’s the right word) Storm Eunice and the wind from indoors. We had an interesting few hours in our top floor flat – we

The late (as usual) end-of-month review – January 2022

Hi everyone Many apologies I’m late as usual but this time I’ve got a very good excuse as I’ve posted not one but two blogs on My Other Blog and replied to the commenters. The first is all about those ‘gatherings’ at No10, with the second an update on the

Skirts – Part 3! With a detour around some necessary maintenance!

Hi everyone Well, I did say it was the month of the skirt and so it has been through thick and thin and a lot of coughing, now over, thank goodness!  Yes, I managed to put up a different skirt on Instagram every day for 3 weeks – phew!  I’m

More skirts!

More skirts!

Hi everyone I do hope you’re not too bored with the skirts as I haven’t got much else for you as I’m still coughing away (not Covid) and I’m not feeling my usual 100%, so there are no opinions or news on health or fashion for you, just the skirts,

This is the month of the skirt!

Hi everyone Hope you’re all fine and dandy. We’re a bit under the weather with some kind of virus, but negative for Covid – phew!  It’s the month for colds and coughs so what can you expect. The weather in the UK doesn’t help as it is so variable, yesterday

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 75 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
