(Semi) lockdown diaries – 31 August 2020

It’s the end of the month again so here’s another round-up of thoughts on these unusual times. As you can see from the title of this post, I now see myself as being in a semi-lockdown situation, because I have moved a little on my hard-line position. Wearing a mask

Summer clothes? We mix it up in the UK!

Hello again We have been a little bit more adventurous. You have to live and enjoy life so we visited our daughter on Sunday, and next Sunday we will be going to friends for a Sunday lunch. That will be quite daring for us and, gosh, am I looking forward

Are you wearing all white?

Are you wearing all white?

Hello again Apparently wearing an all-white outfit is the latest in thing in fashion circles, say the fashion journos, and who am I to argue with this. Did you know that this wearing of white is meant to be a homage to Wimbledon, which I am so sad to be

Lockdown diaries – 29 June 2020

Hi everyone I wonder how long I’ll be doing a post at the end of the month on what is now my version of lockdown?  Maybe for some time. We’re going to restart visiting family again, I hasten to add, in their respective gardens (which we stopped as there was

What is this blog for?

Hello everyone I haven’t bought any clothes these last couple of weeks and, what with the drop in temperatures here in the UK, haven’t worn much other than my two new pairs of jeans with a variety of tops, so I thought that this post might look at what this blog

Lockdown diaries – 30 April 2020

Hi everyone. What are you doing now that you wouldn’t have done before the lockdown? This month I cleaned my oven twice (ordinarily I would never….) plus I ordered some little storage boxes for my bedroom and bathroom drawers, which I’m sorting and tidying. I always felt that our flat

Party frocks – actually I always prefer a party skirt!

Oh my word, it’s almost Christmas, and I’m nearly ready and it’s going to be fine. But I do have mixed feelings about the holiday. Christmas for me, now, is too much. It’s great when you’re a child and your parents rush around and give you the best Christmas they

Hello everyone Just look what I found in a nearby shop yesterday – a spider brooch which I shall wear and wear, I promise. I’ve just bought it so no pix of me wearing it yet but here it is by my newly painted nails to get the size. As

Second-hand September and an out-of-doors Brighton weekend

Second-hand September and an out-of-doors Brighton weekend

Hello again I expect most of you know that this is a month where we are supposed to not buy anything new. Despite it being London Fashion Week influencers and models have asked us to only buy second-hand clothes throughout September. One of those influencers, Stella Tennant (grand-daughter of one of

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 74 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
