Skirts – Part 3! With a detour around some necessary maintenance!

Hi everyone Well, I did say it was the month of the skirt and so it has been through thick and thin and a lot of coughing, now over, thank goodness!  Yes, I managed to put up a different skirt on Instagram every day for 3 weeks – phew!  I’m

How did this happen?

How did this happen?

I’ll be 75 next birthday (in June) and I often think along the lines of How.Did.That.Happen, this ageing thing? Because it creeps up on you and then boom, it’s there! I’ve said this before, that when I was 40 I thought no different to a 30-yr-old, same when I was

Hair! Some common problems and solutions

Hair! Some common problems and solutions

Hi everyone I’m a bit late this week – I’ll tell you the reason at the end of the post. Hair! This is a tricky one as I am not an expert on hair, and furthermore have been blessed with my mother’s Scottish red hair gene, but someone asked me

Maintenance at home

Hello everyone How are you all doing? I’ve begun to do more things out in the community but being very, very cautious as the virus is still circulating here in the UK – see the latest figures which contain information about local areas.  But last week, I went to a

Lockdown diaries – 30 April 2020

Hi everyone. What are you doing now that you wouldn’t have done before the lockdown? This month I cleaned my oven twice (ordinarily I would never….) plus I ordered some little storage boxes for my bedroom and bathroom drawers, which I’m sorting and tidying. I always felt that our flat

Lockdown outfits – April 2020

Lockdown outfits – April 2020

There’s a lot of clothes and outfits in my wardrobe going unworn. I bought the most wonderful edgy skirt just before all the shops shut and can’t quite bring myself to wear it as it’s not, in any way, an indoor stay-at-home skirt. However, I’ll dig it out and take

A new skirt and Hair Part II

A new skirt and Hair Part II

Hello again I’m always on the lookout for skirts, which I prefer to jeans, pants and trousers.  I have two pairs of black skinny jeans one of which has sparkles on it and which I wear with a top in the evening, and I’ll wear that pair when we go

The makeup business – new developments and trends plus a joyful experience

The makeup business – new developments and trends plus a joyful experience

Hello everyone The beauty business – it’s a strange one. Think how it’s changed over the years. It used to be ‘let’s go down Boots’, after a frothy coffee in that new-fangled coffee bar. And once in Boots, the Chemist, you’d get a Helena Rubenstein lipstick or maybe Elizabeth Arden

My new top – I wear it a lot!

A couple of weeks ago I bought a top in the Martlets Hospice charity shop in Lewes. My word, it’s a keeper. I’ve worn it and worn it. Here it is. It’s a Boden top and cost £5.99 – that’s about right for Lewes. I’m wearing the top over a

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 75 years old and I live in Lewes, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
