Up to London – for good news and good views!

Up to London – for good news and good views!

Hi there After several months of sorting out the new flat we found time to go up to London for some exhibitions and my annual skin check at The Mole Clinic, which, btw, is not part of the NHS but I think the price worth it as I get a

A good news story and Hair Part I

Hi everyone I have a good news story. But just a thought, both parts of this post might put you right off your breakfast – not sure.  Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained, so here goes! OK I was in the gym changing room, and I ever so slightly knocked my

Jackets Part II and another necklace

Hello again Weather-wise we’re now fully into cold starts in the morning (for the UK) and a lot of rain, perhaps more than usual. Fortunately, even our leader (the one that I am not fully in tune with!) has said that the flooding in the north of our country is

A new hat and a facial, and gosh the choice you have now! Plus out and about in Brighton

A new hat and a facial, and gosh the choice you have now! Plus out and about in Brighton

Hello everyone First things first I bought a new hat! Rather pleased with it.  I saw it in  charity shop on our Sunday walk and yes, you’ve guessed, I pounced! It cost all of £4! We were out and about watching the Vintage Car Rally which begins in London and

Media images of ageing – are they too clichéd and restricted?

Early last week I wrote a piece elsewhere, which was mainly in praise of Lady Hale, the wonder woman heading up our Supreme Court.  And she really is a wonder woman as the court’s judgement on the legality of our Parliament’s prorogation was superb in its depth and breadth yet

The continuing impact of the move and how I’m dealing with it

The continuing impact of the move and how I’m dealing with it

We love living in the centre of Brighton and this has made quite a difference to our cultural life.  Last Sunday we went to a gig. OK, it was in the afternoon, but it was a right rock-on affair with the Alter Eagles showcasing all the original Eagles songs. Who

A glimpse of our streamlined and de-cluttered apartment

Hi everyone Moving home in the UK can be very stressful as it was for us, and it had quite an impact on my physical self and I shall be talking about that in my next post (not to worry, as I’m sorting myself out) but today it’s about how

I’m back and here’s some cruise highlights!

Hello everyone I’m back and I have to say that the day after we returned we wondered if we’d ever been away as we threw ourselves into unpacking the suitcases plus the unpacked boxes we’d left and by the end of the day, we were exhausted!  But hey, after another

It’s 11 days to the move!

It’s 11 days to the move!

I continue to declutter and that includes pieces of furniture as well as clothes, and I will be packing my suitcase for the cruise this week. Other odds and ends will be discarded as well. I do love the challenge of a good clearout! I’m finding that as I age

I’m de-cluttering again! For a good reason!

An update on my pledge to not buy new, I’ve bought my one annual pair of new shoes, but they’re not Doc Martens. They’re flat and comfortable brogues with a hint of wackiness as they’re silver in colour. Not only do I not wear heels because I have weak ankles,

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 74 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
