The cooler weather means I get out my warmer clothes – hooray! Part 1 – skirts

The cooler weather means I get out my warmer clothes – hooray! Part 1 – skirts

I do love wearing winter clothes and that includes tights and jackets and coats, and oh, yes, boots and winter skirts. I expect having raved about these items and after this week’s rain and colder nights there’ll still be warmer weeks. Nevertheless, I’m excited. Yes, winter skirts. Here’s a favourite

The continuing impact of the move and how I’m dealing with it

The continuing impact of the move and how I’m dealing with it

We love living in the centre of Brighton and this has made quite a difference to our cultural life.  Last Sunday we went to a gig. OK, it was in the afternoon, but it was a right rock-on affair with the Alter Eagles showcasing all the original Eagles songs. Who

Second-hand September and an out-of-doors Brighton weekend

Second-hand September and an out-of-doors Brighton weekend

Hello again I expect most of you know that this is a month where we are supposed to not buy anything new. Despite it being London Fashion Week influencers and models have asked us to only buy second-hand clothes throughout September. One of those influencers, Stella Tennant (grand-daughter of one of

A glimpse of our streamlined and de-cluttered apartment

Hi everyone Moving home in the UK can be very stressful as it was for us, and it had quite an impact on my physical self and I shall be talking about that in my next post (not to worry, as I’m sorting myself out) but today it’s about how

I’m back and here’s some cruise highlights!

Hello everyone I’m back and I have to say that the day after we returned we wondered if we’d ever been away as we threw ourselves into unpacking the suitcases plus the unpacked boxes we’d left and by the end of the day, we were exhausted!  But hey, after another

More news about this and that plus an apology!

Hello and apologies to anyone who tried to read a post last week and couldn’t. The blog was down for 2 days. It’s a long story as to why but a big thank you to Mr F who sweated over his Mac removing numerous files. (He has many websites on

It’s 11 days to the move!

It’s 11 days to the move!

I continue to declutter and that includes pieces of furniture as well as clothes, and I will be packing my suitcase for the cruise this week. Other odds and ends will be discarded as well. I do love the challenge of a good clearout! I’m finding that as I age

I’m de-cluttering again! For a good reason!

An update on my pledge to not buy new, I’ve bought my one annual pair of new shoes, but they’re not Doc Martens. They’re flat and comfortable brogues with a hint of wackiness as they’re silver in colour. Not only do I not wear heels because I have weak ankles,

This and that and a swishing party planned – for the future!!!

Hi I don’t know if this happens elsewhere but here in the Uk whenever the media publishes an article on the older population (as in from 65+) it is usually accompanied by a photo of either a sad old woman looking out of the window or a pair of hands

I’m back in Brighton once more!

Hello everyone I’ve been away!  And I also had a bit of a break from the blog – apologies!  But it was so good to return to an old but favourite haunt – Suffolk! For those of you living outside the UK, Suffolk is part of the rounded bit on

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 73 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
