Hair Part II What’s not to like? When there’s too much of it, that’s when!

Hair Part II What’s not to like? When there’s too much of it, that’s when!

I’m just about to post, but my finger is hovering over the post button as I wonder whether I’ve revealed and exposed too much of myself.  I mean teeth, old ladies skin, but excess hair?  Yet, on the other hand, we should talk about these things, especially so for the

Hair Part I – are you going grey or not?

Hi everyone and here’s my take on this grey hair business. Just recently there’s been a fair amount in the media about the glories of going or being grey. It’s always coming up: for instance, on Sunday the veteran journalist Katherine Whitehorn in The Observor wrote about being rung up and

What’s up with the red carpet?

Hello I had aimed to post about hair, but that’s the next one.  Instead, I thought I must say something about the faux furore around the Oscar-winning Jenny Beavan and her wearing a biker jacket at the ceremony. I mean it’s hard to take the Oscars seriously when, you know,

Hatwalk 14 – March 2016

Hi there It’s the beginning of March and time for a post about the hat I’m sharing with the lovely Judith Boyd and her #hatattack session! Well, I’ve fallen off my perch (or whatever the phrase is) as one of my New Year resolutions was that I wasn’t going to

Film night outfit – February 2016

Hello again I’d forgotten how short this month is!   Just one more day then it’s the first of the month and I still haven’t put up the outfit I wore on film night.  It was another successful screening, btw, with nearly 80 people present. We showed a challenging film,

A few maintenance things I do

A few maintenance things I do

For Christmas I got Nora Ephron’s latest book, a collection of her journalism. I so love Nora Ephron’s writing style and her take on life and, in particular, I love her piece on ‘8 hours and counting’, as seriously I take ages in the bathroom putting on the makeup and

Here’s 25 questions that gives an insight into how I think!

I haven’t had a rant against Vogue for some time. In fact, I cancelled my subscription as I thought what is the point of reading articles that are way beyond parody, and looking at clothes you’d need to take out a loan for. It’s a ridiculous magazine. But I’ve just

Building a look that costs not a lot!

Building a look that costs not a lot!

Hi everyone This is a post all about building up a look on next-to-nothing, because, of course, practically every item in my wardrobe has been bought from charity shops for around £5 – you know, it makes sense! I went up to London a couple of weeks ago to the

Hatwalk 13 – February 2016

Hi everyone.  Another month, another hat and a big shout-out to Judith Boyd.  Do have a look at her latest hat worn for her monthly #hat attack session – such elegance and panache As I’ve been wearing my red coat, with the matching red pom-pom beret, a lot lately (anything

Film night outfit – January 2016

Wow, nearly the end of the month and I still haven’t shown you what I wore on film night. We screened the documentary, Muscle Shoals, which, without really trying anything (apart from a short burst of promotion on Facebook) was incredibly popular – 80 people came and, from our feedback forms

A fabulous hat

About Me

My name is Penny, I am 71 years old and I live in Brighton, East Sussex. My reasons for writing a fashion blog is that I have built up a great wardrobe on very little money mainly because I buy from charity shops.

So my blog will feature the clothes I have found since I retired, and the clothes that I continue to find in my local charity shops. From time to time I will also comment on issues around women and ageing.

Penny,
