Hi everyone

As you know, I’m moving to a much smaller place and, therefore, de-cluttering and downsizing big-time.  I’ve been so good.  Loads of clothes, ornaments and kitchen crockery, plus other things, have gone to charity shops to be recycled and loved by someone else. However, some stuff (coughs nervously – we’re talking about clothes) have started coming back into the house!  But gaps in my wardrobe are not being filled up, as for every garment I bring in, two go out – yes, I really mean that.  I’ll write more on this as you have to be strong!

And I’ve found some great bargains.  To start with I bought two skirts at £3.99 each.  They’re hardly worn and have an M&S Woman label.

This blue one with the houndstooth check will be for later in the day, as the dark blue material has a slight sheen to it.

Also I’ve bought some ‘new’ ankle boots  which are actually a size too big.  I put two insoles inside and can wear them but I’m not sure.  However, they cost only £6.50, and are suitable for those damp, grey and misty Spring days that we have a lot in the UK.

Then this green one is such fun.

I love the colour green and have many tops that will go with it.  A tip.  Try not to impulse buy in a charity shop (I mean you can, it’s good to experiment).  But keep this in mind, that it’s best to look for clothes that integrate with your current wardrobe.

Then I found this jacket.

I think it’s great for those days when it  looks so inviting with that azure blue sky and the sun shining, but in actuality it’s really cold.  The jacket is padded, but has that Spring-like look and cost the same as the boots – £6.50.

And I teamed it with the blue scarf and a blue beret.  So, I had a bit of spending spree (just over £20)  but I have outfits rather than random buys.  Plus there are two big bags of clothes and another with paperbacks waiting to go to my local charity shop.  As I’ve said before, it’s a win-win situation!

That’s all for now – have a great week!

It was a brilliant shop – I bought the two skirts and jacket in the same charity shop and the shoes (which I’m still not sure about) in another. But all on the same day! The hat and scarf are also charity shop finds but bought some time ago

I think when we charity shop, we get a little more leeway, as it’s painless to re-donate them! You’re a great shopper, as these new outfits look wonderful on you. Thanks for linking up, xo

Thank you so much Patti! And yes, the clothes that are difficult to get rid of are the ones that were bought at High Street prices. Also I wasn’t always like this – a good shopper. It’s only since retirement that I’ve found my style – having the time is key, I think. It’s great to link with you. xxx

You did well, some really lovely purchases. The skirts are particularly nice and you can probably style them lots of different ways. I shall have to see what else you’ve been buying, you’re a woman after my own heart with these bargains!!

Penny, I love your finds this month and I use to do one in/one out. But that was before I discovered charity shops (that sound so much better than thrift shops-I think I am going to start using that term). Goodwill’s 25% senior days! Be glad, I am not in the UK, I would work hard in talking you out of the blue a black houndstooth……………take care.

Hi Terri and yes that blue skirt is outstanding and definitely something I could wear in the evening as the material stands out so well. Yes, we don’t call it thrifting which is a very logical way to describe what we all do, I think. The thing is the charity shops we have in our UK High Streets are small shops (and now very similar to small boutiques) and they always have the charity’s name above it. So to us the logical thing is to say I’m just going into that charity shop!!! All the very best to you xxx

Love the skirts and jacket – but the boots – sorry, your feet look enormous. I love charity shops and have found some great stuff but I would NEVER buy footwear (for the same reason I’d never buy underwear )

Well I kind of half agree with you about the shoes. My charity shop tip to others has always been don’t drop your standards, so I always buy good quality, hardly worn articles of clothing. And equally, I’ve always bought shoes that are nearly new and then I put in a new insole – done! My current long boots (which are now so worn they couldn’t go back to a charity shop) have been wonderful and they were from a charity shop.

Also I don’t do dainty shoes – so clod-hoppering, chunky, big and enormous is kind of me as well! But then I DO agree that these ankle boots won’t do – they’re almost out and into that charity shop bag! Why because they’re a size too big – so you’re right there!!!

I love those bright colors Penny! So nice when you’re wishing spring would just get here, please! and you’re tired of winter blacks but still need some layering. Great choices-and certainly worth the closet space 🙂

Yes, that colour green is so Spring-like and I’ll be wearing it today as the sun is out and the sky is a cloudless blue but there’s that chill in the air that is so deceptive – so the green jacket it is!

Your skirt finds are so cute! I love to shop at charity shops and have found many really nice things at our local Goodwill stores. You look 20 years younger than the age you list on your site! Will be back to visit.

It takes strength to follow the one in, two out rule when applying it to clothes – good for you! Your charity donations will bring happiness to so many. Your blue beret is so cute with both skirts, which are great finds! Thank you for sharing your fun style with Hat Attack!
