Hello everyone

What are you doing today to celebrate the New Year?  I trust you all had a good New Year’s Eve and are chilling today.  This is isn’t a New Year’s resolutions post but, later in the year, I will touch on a couple of things I intend to work on, such as physical fitness and throwing out the unwanted, unworn and unnecessary, and I don’t just mean clothes!

However, today is packing day!  And restricted by weight I’m not packing a lot.  So, here are a few pics of things I’m taking.   This is one, I think, for formal nights.

I’m not a great fan of those white trousers that people are supposed to wear on cruises, so this dress that I picked up in a charity shop in France will be packed for sure.

And although this dress isn’t made of natural fibres it’s very floaty and I seem to remember last time I went to the Caribbean and the States in the hot weather, that long dresses that flapped around your legs as you walked was the thing to wear.

Talking about the last time I went to the Caribbean, here’s a pic of me wearing a dress I wore in St Lucia 17 years ago so that’s going in my case today.

I shall definitely take these.

And maybe this hat.

That’s enough pics of clothes and things.

If you’ve read to this point, I want to thank you so very much for following and reading my blog.  You are the reason I write and here’s to the coming year and all that I’ll share with you in my pursuit of a great, but now, much smaller wardrobe.  Yes, I’ll also be relaying to you all the pros and cons of down-sizing big-time.  Living in a 2-bed apartment may be a challenge, or not, I don’t know, as at the moment, it’s all up to how and when our current house sells. What I will be embracing is moving to a city with all that city living brings.  I’ll let you know if it’s what I think it’s going to be!!!

You may get a post in the next couple of weeks but probably not as who knows what the wifi situation is.  But I’ll take lots of pics and you’ll hear from me anon and definitely at the end of January.

Until then, all the very best to you and yours

With love, Penny, the frugalfashionshopper

Lovely clothes. I spent New Year’s Eve going through the paperwork on my desk (about a foot high) which I’ve been resisting for three months, ever since I moved in and it started piling up. Also dealing with paying bills, insurance, filing bank statements, accounts and COA notifications. Went to bed at 3am as I wanted to greet New Year with a clear desk, which I have. (Just have to avoid looking at the dining table, which was the spill over, but symbolically I achieved something and do feel clearer today). I’ve decided to give up feeling guilty about not liking celebrations too. I spent both Christmas and New Year’s Eve alone from choice and thoroughly enjoyed both. Peace and quiet – wonderful! I’m sure you’ll be very happy in your new home.

I hope you enjoy your cruise – the clothes you’ve packed are fab. I love the French dress particularly and I guess it’s going to be lovely and cool to wear.

You certainly have an eye for stylish clothes Penny! If you haven’t already written one that I might have missed, how about a post sharing your strategy on locating these bargains? I find I get overwhelmed especially when op-shops overfill their rails and don’t sort things into sizes or colors. You always seem to find items of quality.
Enjoy your cruise, and Happy New Year!

White linen trousers always require white/flesh colour knickers… something I’ve forgotten about in the past when on holiday. What a lovely linen frock, you did well to find a charity shop in France, I’m still looking. Have a wonderful trip.

Enjoy your cruise. I did my first last year and really enjoyed it. I love your clothes and I have been inspired to charity shop again. I have my niece’s wedding coming up and this time I am wearing all second-hand clothes.
